Title: Puter cleanup
Post by: edward on June 23, 2012, 10:17:18 am
Does anyone know of a free program that cleans up the puter, I know there are free ones out there, but after you download them it cleans up some errors they want you to purchase the product to clean up the rest of the errors, last time I checked they found eight hundred errors, looks like this is a come on. I'am not that good with computers, just thought someone would have suggestions.  Edward

Defragging your hard drive will help speed things up.  Windows comes with its own defrag program but I like Defraggler, from the same people that make CCleaner. http://www.piriform.com/products (http://www.piriform.com/products)

Running the "Disk Cleanup" program in Windows is also a good idea.

Just  wondering  how do you go about a clean reinstall on windows. I keep getting e mail from verizon, which I have, and  they have a program to download, and clean up the computer, Just like all others they do it free, the catch is they want you to buy the program like all others do, this is a bunch of crap. I have never found a program without a gimic.  Edward

Are you downloading and installing a program or trying to do it directly online?

If you DOWNLOAD and INSTALL the CCLEANER program on YOUR machine it will work just fine.

I done it both ways online and saved to computer, get the same results, unless I
am doing something wrong, sure they check for errors just fine, but they want you to purchase the product before they fix the errors.  Edward

Edward, in the Periform web site http://www.piriform.com/ (http://www.piriform.com/), CCleaner and Defraggler are free but you have to select the "For Home" tab.  Selecting the "For Business" tab will get you a program you have to purchase.

I have both CCleaner and Defraggler and have run them on my computer, and I didn't pay for them.

Don't know if the programs from MajorGeeks are free.

Hope this helps,
Jim

MajorGeeks posts all types of programs..Pay, Shareware and FREE...just pay attention to what the description says and make your choice.
I have used that site for years and have never had a problem.

The main thing with any site is READ EVERYTHING before you CLICK!!!

That is what gets people in trouble....they don't pay enough attention BEFORE they click on things!!!

Edward.
I know that you are trying to find somthing free but in order to get your computer clean up. I would get this called WinCleaner one click pc registry cleaner and optimizer and if you do get it don't forget to registered it or it won't work by going to   To get this is at www.hsn.com and the item number is 162-953 www.dotwincleanerdotcom/hsn and then type in your registery number.
HSN price is $49.95.
here is a link to it http://www.hsn.com/electronics/wincleaner-oneclick-pc-registry-cleaner-and-optimizer_p-6638871_xp.aspx?cmsstr=162953&webm_id=&web_id=&sz=6&sf=EC&dept=EC0027&cat=EC0028&o=&ocm=seis

You wanted to know how to do  clean o/s install.  since you really don't know how to do that you should let someone else do the reinstall of the o/s.
