If you have a hobby shop nearby that deals in aircraft models, they may have or can get 1/16 aircraft plywood for you.  It can be pricey though.  Michaels also carry it, at least in my area.  Silver Sliver

General Scroll Saw Talk / Update on Mike Moorlach
« on: May 05, 2011, 04:45:35 pm »
I visited Mike in the hospital this morning.  As you know he had a hip replacement yesterday.  He was up and even doing some walking.  Seems to be coming along well.  He expects to go home tomorrow (Friday).  He will need a push walker support for a few days and finally a cane and who knows later on.  He is his usual self but for those who may have ordered some blades yesterday and today, please be patient until he is able to fill the orders.  If I know Mike this may be sooner rather than later.  Silver Sliver

I talked to Mike yesterday (Thursday).  He is scheduled to go into the hospital on the 4th of May.  I have heard that others that have their hip replaced have gone home in 3 days.  I expect he will have to have some recuperation at home before he can get back to business.  He is more concerned about letting his customers down than he is about himself.  I told him to take care of himself first and that his customers will understand.  What we can all do now is pray for him and his recovery.    Silver Sliver

I talked with Mike this morning and he told me that he will be having hip replacement surgery in May.  Because of this and other health problems, he is going to sell his business.  If you know of anyone who might be interested in buying this business, have them give him a call.  Most of you have his phone number and his mail address is Mike@mikesworkshop.com . I am sure that he would appreciate a call anyway to wish him well.  Maybe even a card or two.  I am praying for you Mike.

Whenever I have a program that doesn't have a "save" feature, I will use alt+Printscreen.  This puts it in the same place that "copy" uses.  Then I paste it into my favorite image reader, Irfanview, where I crop it and print it out.  Works for me.  Silver Sliver

I agree with bill.  My table is approx. 30 inches off the floor.  I use an old office swivel chair on casters.  Saves my back which I injured this past summer.  Silver

I have a program called PDFCreator which is just like another printer.  I highlight the files I want and then use the print command and select PDFCreator.  Works like a charm.

1010 to 2010 is one thousand years.  One Hundred would be 1910 to 2010

I don't remember the size but I use nothing but Flying Dutchman blades.  I would guess that I used the largest scroll reverse that the fretwork allowed.

Several years ago I cut a few trivets for my daughter-in-law out of 3/4" MDF.  I painted them and finished with poly.  She is still using them.

If by laminate you mean a Formica type product, I have used it extensively as a backer.  I have also use it for an overlay if the color is just right.  As was stated do not use a reverse tooth blade.  Also stated is to sandwich it between two pieces of other wood.  It is hard on blades. although I have cut as many as 3 thickness sandwiched.  Slow going tho.

I use a program called PDF Split and Merge.  It is free and fairly easy to navigate.  Just Google PDFsam and download the file and install.  Then you can rearrange the pages in any PDF file to your liking.
