...on my Porter Cable saw! My wife wanted me to cut this for her. 1/4" oak, BLO/MS bath. Likely go with a Satin finish. Pattern is from the book Classic Fretwork Scroll Saw Patterns by Spielman & Reidle.

Nice work, had a little problem locating the W, maybe photo angle??
-
Wow! That's beautiful! Those Victorian patterns are awesome! I love it! Your cutting is amazing, too!

Awesome job, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us. :)

If I saw that pattern I would say, "Now that is intimidating", and go on to look for something easier. Congrats that is a masterpiece. but I am still intimidated. ;D

Great cutting! Came out awesome!

Nice job Glenn. I use a satin finish on just about everything I cut. The gloss and semi-gloss will highlight every mistake. However a great job like that couldn't have too many mistakes :)
You are a good scroller and your upgrade to the Delta will just make your work that much better. I think you will find you can scroll for a longer period of time, on a better saw, without as much fatigue. Thanks for sharing.

Very elegant, exquisite and gorgeous...
Go for the 'satin' finish, IMHO.

Very nice! No telling what you will achieve with the new saw.

Very nice Glen.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! It really wasn't a tough one to cut. Like the saying goes "one hole at a time".
I've been thinking about trying this same pattern in a 1/2" material, then, after cutting it, carving the vines and leaves back a bit to make the lettering stand out more. I'm not much of a carver, but then again, 18 months ago I wasn't much of a scroller either!
We'll see!

What about cutting another set of the letters and glueing them on top? think I might try that since the right hand is no good for carving.
-
Judy, that would work too! My carving would likely be done nearly entirely with the flex shaft on my Dremel, and of course some carving bits. I know if I tried it with carving knives (which I don't even own) I would likely end up with a pile of broken scraps in my lap, and I'd probably be bleeding from more than a couple of places! ;)

I hate the sight of blood especially when it is mu own.

Nice job. should display quite well.
