Title: Carole Rothman bowl
Post by: scotti158 on January 17, 2013, 05:10:55 pm
Here is a Carole Rothman pattern bowl, Black Walnut, Cherry, and Maple. I call it a "Holy" bowl, I had to sand the heck out of it!   :D

Very pretty bowl Scotti158.  Thanks for sharing this with us.  Bowls like that always seem to require a lot of sanding.

Sanding paid off, this is marvelous. I have had my eye on that pattern for some time. My problem is I don't have the right drill to get the angle right to cut this pattern. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Troy there is a simple and easy way to get that angled drill hole.  Cut a guide block at the degree of slope that you are wanting to use.  For instance if you want to use a 23 degree angle then cut one and then use a hand drill and lay the drill bit along the incline that you just cut and drill your hole, no need for a drill press with a tilting table.  Just a block of wood cut at an angle.  Just something I have found that works well.
