Title: My First Door Harp
Post by: troy_curtis on December 08, 2012, 05:15:54 pm
I had seen a door harp on a customer's door a few months ago. I didn't know what it was so I posted a picture of their door harp on here. Someone on here knew what it was. So I researched where to get the parts for making one. I drew up the plan for making this one and made it. This is for my mom and step dad for Christmas.

For anyone who is interested in making them I got my parts from Music Maker at harpkit.com (http://harpkit.com) The parts for making this are real inexpensive. Making the harp was easier than I thought it would be.

It goes on the back of a door. When the door opens and then closes, the little wooden balls hanging down bounce on the harp strings and make musical sounds. I deliver medicine to hospice patients, one of my patients had made one about 20 years ago. So I did a bit of research and found that the parts can be gotten very low price. So I got parts and drew up a heart design and made one. =)

I think it does. So far the people I have shown it to love it. My neighbor wants me to make her one...lol. You can actually tune it if you want. I just made each string a different sound from high to low. I plan to make more of these after Christmas.
