Here another of my bowls, it is matai a native of NZ and is a hard dense wood, it is a golden color and with age turns dark brown, the blank started out 16" in dia. and 5" thick but I found dry rot in it when I started tyrning it and the finished size is 12" dia. 3 1/2 thick it has been carved them stippled and ebonised the finish is dainish oil

That wood looks really awesome.  I am learning all kinds of new stuff here. :)  It is really a pretty piece.

Thanks for all the coments, in this case I used black poster paint as it is quick and I did not have to re-sand it, it is finished with danish oil

Very unique. Is the bumpy finish in the wood or why does it look that way. It seems like a special finish. Mark

That is stippling done with a dremel and a burr, takes yonks to get around such a large piece
