hey gabby, don't know him. I haven't met that many folks from here yet as I moved here not too long ago.
came here to be with my folks, as they are getting older.
also it is a great spot for my summer hobby as a gold prospector. lots of places to search and work. gets me out in the great outdoors and I do find some things to add to some of my woodworking that I do over the winter mostly.
I even get up into your neck of the woods sometimes ( so. or.) ;D

nope, no woodsmith store. we don't even have a home depo withing 100 mi.
we do have a fine wood yard with great sources of wood, but most come in 1/2 or 3/4.
As I said resawing at this time is iffy at best.
most of the ornaments I cut are baltic birch ply and those that have recieved them think they are great. my question in the beginning is because I want to try hardwood for different grain and color. (like zebra).
I have cut lots of other projects out of hardwoods before, the projects required thicker wood (name signs..ect).
I will check into the internet sources more. thanks

General Scroll Saw Talk / question on ornaments

I have read that some folks on here use baltic birch (plywood?) some are using hardwood, is the hardwood plywood or solid? if solid where are folks finding it in 1/4".
I have been looking around and most places have it in 3/4" thick, seems a shame to plane it down. (resawing is not much of an option).

Get togethers, shows and swap meets / Re: shows in no california?
« on: November 18, 2011, 10:12:01 pm »
Hey thanks for the replies, I was beginning to really think my comp was on the fritz !
DGMAN, wish I could get down there, but just a little too far.
I have seen some things around here, now that the christmas craft places have started to put up there displays, so there must be some scrollers in the area. must be lurking out there.
maybe someday I can figure out my camera so I can post some photos of some of my work.
