OK Paul you aren't the only city boy here.
Just visualize how the tread would work. With the V's pointing forward as in the photo soft material would be channeled out to the sides allowing the tire to reach firmer soil beneath it. With the V's reversed the soft material is pulled to the center of the track causing the wheel to slip. Elementary my dear Watson!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that had probs with this pattern. Heres my attempt, I'm not real happy with it though.

Hey there's a different tractor up there now?????

Ohhh I see now, someone snuck another post in on me, Ill post this again under the right tractor this time! Boy do I feel silly!
