No PHD, just a  DD 214

That's a good looking piece of cedar, and nice work inlaying into that complex grain.

Very nice! As Ray said about the grain, I haven't had the best of luck with ceder because it always split on me when I cut intricate on the grain, but it looks like you didn't have any trouble.

Usually the only cracking problem I have with cedar is if the inlay is large , near the edge ,have a too tight fit and I tap it in place.  When this happens I just fill the crack with white glue and clamp it shut.  I use 3/8" thick wood.
