General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Nativity scene
« on: October 06, 2017, 11:35:20 am »
My Home Depot has a selection of 1/2" and 1/4" shorter stock somewhere close to where they sell the Oak, Popular and Clear Cedar lumber.  Also if you have a table say, and as small as the Nativity pieces are you could resaw 1" to thickness on the table saw.  On the internet you can order 1/4" boards in different widths and lengths.  Places like Ocooch: http://ocoochhardwoods.com/scroll_saw_lumber.php. but you pay a premium price for it.

Semper Fi,  A US Marine with a pink Poodle...  I'm okay with that.  I have a Standard Poodle and one of the best, funnest dogs, I have had.  Not a watch dog though, love every body good or bad.  Before I had Dobies and Airedales.  Welcome to the forum.

I got out in '66.

I agree with DW.  Been using it for several years, but keep in mind I do not do anything real complicated.

Holy COW! Don't count on it they will be herding the sheep with drones in the future.  Would have never thought of that use of drones...  They are going to retire us all, man and beast!   :-X

Both are great.  Very nice work.  In our part of the country, your Sheepdog would be called a Border Collie.

There are products for stabilizing wood.   I just don't happen to know the names.  I think Home Depot or Lowes carries some.

I think you will be happy.  It is a big help to watch Steve Good's video in assembling it.

Guess what, not working for me.  Just tried.  Must be a server or some such thing along the way that is having "issues".

Welcome.  Congrats on the new saw coming.  I have a Seyco.  Good saw.  I would strongly recommend watching Steve Good's video on assembling the saw.  It is somewhat different to assemble.  Very doable but more complex then any other saw you take out of the box and mount it on top of a stand.

Ask Steve a question. / Re: DW788 front to back blade adjustment
« on: August 16, 2017, 03:12:09 pm »
That technique of rotating the motor is discussed for the Excalibur and the Seyco, I know for sure having owned both.  I do not know if it works for the DeWalt.  The Ex and Seyco motors are held in place with a flange.  The  flange is held in place with three bolts the fit into slots in the flange.  Loosen the bolts and you can rotate the motor.  If you try to rotate your motor, mark on the motor and the frame of the saw where it starting point is.  Then you will know where to move the motor back to when you want to.

On the first one, it was posted originally in 2013.  Maybe the poster has removed the picture from it's source for some reason.  Could be the same for the second one.

I don't know, I know it is produced by King Canada, but the Ex was by General International, a Canadian company.  I do no know that they are the same.

Have you looked at this site? http://www.pswood.com/scroll-saws/

I know nothing about them, but watching the video, I was not excited.  Belt changing to change speeds is pretty cumbersome.  I don't care for the why the bottom blade holder works.  And in the video, it sounds very  loud to me.  But hopefully some one here has one or it familiar with them.

Another option is WoodCraft is now selling a King Scroll saw, which looks like a clone of the Excalibur.  They have a 16" maybe it is a 14" that may be a great saw.  Might be worth looking into.
