General Scroll Saw Talk / A Finish for The Cathedrals.... :+}
« on: July 05, 2014, 08:13:33 pm »
So ALL pieces are Off the Scrollsaw and Sanded smooth.  Heres my plan.  Not sure it is Right, so will need the Cons....
     1-  Dip each piece into a Danish Oil for a minute or so.
      2-  Wipe each piece off and let dry for a day.
       3-   Assemble with Aleens Clear Glue.
         4-  Spray a few coats of Gloss Lacquer.

The Question is....  Will glue adhere to each piece even though it has a Oil Finish?
     Never tried this, but maybe soon gonna get my feet wet.  LOL                          Thanks Friends..............Danny  :+}

P.S.      All parts are TAB AND SLOT connections.........

Hey Ya'lls....  This was my very First attempt to cut a pattern like this.  Wasn't real sure at first, but after finishing it came down to REALLY its Basically 3 smaller patterns plus odds n ends that fit together to make One Great looking piece.  Stacked cut when I could, so over-all have 2 of them.

Did run into a small detail problem....  There is not any information on the size and type of Music box movement required....SO....
Here I ask ....  Any leads to the Good supplier of these?

And any and all comments are ALWAYS wanted..............Danny  :+}

P.S.     HAVEN'T APPLIED ANY FINISH YET.......NOT REAL, REAL SURE WHAT TYPE OR COLOR.................

General Scroll Saw Talk / Applying Patterns
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:56:28 pm »
I know this subject has been up n down for a long time, but after bragging about using the Self Sticking Stock to make patterns on and How Well it works.  Still feel it is among the best, but ran out of stock.  Experimented with just using the 3M 77 spray glue on the back of the pattern....NO PAINTERS TAPE....If you spray the glue sparingly and give a minute or so for the drying to take place where the back is barely tacky and apply on wood it Holds Great and Peels off with very little trouble.  Glue residue is Minimum.  Easily sanded off.  Anyway....Just was thinking about this and wanted to give my 13 cents worth......................Danny  :+}

Do not know the Designer of this pattern.  Brother sent it to me over 10 years ago.  Cut it Way back then on Pine.

This time on OAK....  Used mostly the FDUR#1 blade.  Went thru over a Dozen.  Not mainly because of Dullness,

but because with feeding it thru the TINY holes and being so Long and Awkward Accidently BENT THE BLADE.

Anyway did learn something....WOULD OF BEEN A....WALK IN THE PARK....If I was good at using SPIRALS.

oK Enough yacking.  Hope you all Enjoy viewing this piece.  Comments are Always welcome....  Danny  :+}

The Coffee Shop / Words to Ponder.... :+}
« on: May 24, 2014, 02:02:04 pm »
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles roll
ed into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ?yes.?

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.The students laughed..

?Now,? said the professor as the laughter subsided, ?I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things?-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions?-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else?-the small stuff.

?If you put the sand into the jar first,? he continued, ?there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first?-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ?I?m glad you asked.? The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there?s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

If you are a senior you will understand this one; if you deal with seniors, this should help you understand them a little better, and if you are not a senior yet, God willing, someday you will be.
The 2.99 Special
We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the 'seniors' special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99. 'Sounds good,' my wife said. 'But I don't want the eggs..' 'Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte,' the waitress warned her.  'You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?'
my wife asked incredulously.
'YES!' stated the waitress.
'I'll take the special then,' my wife said.  'How do you want your eggs?'  the waitress asked.  'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied.
She took the two eggs home
and baked a cake.
DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!!
WE'VE been around
the block more than
once!
Send this to the Seniors in your life.
I'm sure they'll appreciate it!
Even non-seniors will appreciate it!
always laugh when you can -
it's cheaper than medicine !!!

The Picture where I got the Pattern showed the THREE PENQUINS.  All were cut like a normal JIGSAW puzzle with each piece interlocking.   They were painted Black with Wood tone feature.  Thanks again..  :+}

« on: April 04, 2014, 03:11:13 pm »
Been still cutting project after project even tho the temps. have been down right cold.  Heaters worked.   Have MANY just in the finished cutting and sanding condition.  Gonna take me MANY days to finish each.  And Much bucks for the Lacquer.

Is there any of you out there that are in this similar condition?
I know Many of you have INDOORS shops where the finish can be done with COLD.
                  Just been wondering.................Thanks for a reply........Danny  :+}
