Post by: Judy Hunter on January 26, 2011, 10:34:29 am
Finally got my dremel router rig set up!!  It is GREAT! Especially for routing the edges of 1/4 inch .

Ok here is how I did it...You buy the Dremel Router table, some router bits, Have your kid set it up and figure out how it works, explain it to you then practice with a few scrap pieces and done and done  ;D

Oh I should mention the pattern is Steve's with the perimeter enlarged to accomodate the bevel.

So you went with the Dremel router table attachment instead of the home made one we saw here....
Correct?

I'm still so young!   ::)

On the serious side, however, I really like those pendants.  Good job, Judy.

@Danny  Here is the link to dremel's router table.
http://www.dremel.com/en-us/AttachmentsAndAccessories/Pages/AttachmentsDetail.aspx?pid=231
Very affordable.  Might have to get one myself.  Already have the Dremel w/bits and plunge router setup.  This would probably easier to deal with than my regular router and table in my itty bitty shop.  ...and from Judy's example, it apparently works pretty good.  I too would like to see how it's set up though Judy!

Good job!!!

Thanks for showing me the link.  Looks fairly simple.  Looks like its just screwed into either the wall or a piece of wood and mounted.  I can really see it routing thinner wood pretty good.  Need to get one.  Danny  :+}

Nice job Judy.  That really added a nice touch to those pieces.

I just got one recently.  You can either mount it directly to your bench or mount it on a 2x4 and clamp that to the bench.  I went the latter route since i don't have much room.  You can also make a table extension with plywood to support larger projects.  I haven't used mine much because it's too cold out there but it has worked pretty well so far.

Let me remind all of you:

Do use the routers with caution!

These machines - even if it is 'just' a dremel - can cause serious injuries!
It's one of the most advanced machines in woodworking, but also one of the most powerfull & dangerous. Especially if you're working on small parts.

I made a mini router table for my Dremel.  The plans can be found at
http://www.woodmagazine.com/woodworking-plans/routing/mini-router-table

Works great.

I made my own to, like Paw Paw Ray. Used the same plans. Cheaper than buying dremel's router table. I had all the parts already in my shop.  8)

Well that looks easy enough to make!  Except for shaping the clamping blocks and the curves on the side supports.  If only there were a tool made that could easily cut curvy lines....hmmm...think think think....... ::)

Wasn't I distinctest enough?
 Click me fast I'm a profile gauge (http://www.google.com/images?q=Profile+Gauge&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=de&tab=wi&biw=1680&bih=922)

A fine tool, most times sold not too expensive. I need it now and then. My brother even uses a flexible ruler - these are much more expensive and only useful on big projects (furniture).

My comment was very tongue-in-cheek (i.e. Gosh, I'm on a scrollsaw forum, but don't know what a scrollsaw is).  Already have a contour gauge too.   ;D ;D ;D
