I will no Longer Post in this Forum
« on: August 23, 2013, 08:35:02 pm »
As the title states, I will not be posting in any of the Scrollsaw Workshop forums.  Why?  Well I posted a picture of one of my projects in the Toy Forum and I posted the same post in the Brag Forum.  The Post was deleted by the moderator without any explanation of why.  I see other toy type posts in the Brag forum and they remain, while my was deleted.  I think that was an insensitive move and I take great offense to it.  I won't post, but I will be watching to see if this post is deleted too.

If this post does get removed, then I will know that the moderator can give criticism (by virtue of deletion), but can't take it any criticism of his actions.

Nice to have known all of you,,,,I will be around and on other forums.

Thanks for Lookin'

It was likely that the moderator thought it was a double post and was just trying to clean up.

Hi, Tommy,
I've only been a member for a short time and don't know many people from this site but,
may I suggest that you write to the moderator and ask for an explanation?
God Bless! Spirithorse

Tommy, I love to see your posts too, you make some very nice pieces, I'm sure it is some sort of mistake to delete both pics, check with the moderator I'm sure he will sort it out.

Excellent job, looks great.
I'm sure there was a mistake and I moved to the toy section.
Thanks for sharing your talent.

Mr. Tommy.

Do to the limited space on the server we try to eliminate double posts especially when they contain pictures. (We are human, a few may slip through) So since it was a toy I elected to leave the one in the Toy Category. Pictures eat up a lot of space on the server, text does not. That is also the reason pictures are deleted from the posts on the forum after thirty days. It helps to conserve our limited space on the forum and keeps the cost down to a minimum.

I assure you there was no malicious intent. In the three years the forum has been in existence this has been the practice. No one has ever complained or even inquired. A simple PM to me would have gotten you an explanation also.

If you want a more permanent way of preserving your work post a picture in the Gallery. Those pictures are kept on another server and are never deleted.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Russ

Hi Tommy, I'm so sorry to hear that you felt let down by Russ. To be honest I don't follow the forum as close as I should so I didn't notice the issue until I read your email. Let me make it clear that Russ is just doing as I ask so it's my fault not his. I understand that it seemed insensitive but no ill intent was intended. Russ does what he does as a volunteer. I really appreciate his help and the forum would go away without that help. Because of this I don't ask that he spend any more time than he has to moderate comments. Sometimes that may seem insensitive but it's actually just him trying to get things done in a reasonable amount of time.

Let me apologize and ask that you please come back to the forum. You would obviously be missed. I won't tell you that things like this won't happen again because they will. I just want to assure you that when they do there is no malicious intent.

There you go Tom....You got the real scoop from the BOSS!

No need to get all huffed up. Russ is just doing his job as determined by our benevolent BOSS!

This is a FREE forum and has more information on scrolling than any other I have ever visited.
BUT Steve pays the bills and has to have help keeping the cost down.

Enjoy, contribute and make a donation once in a while!

I don't understand WHY you would post the same picture in two different places anyway?  Those that are interested in toys would certainly look there first.

I usually hit the "Show unread posts since last visit" link so if it were posted in either it would show up in the list. I have to go look to see which forum a posting sits in.

That said, I left the Elite Scrollers site because they deleted postings without any explanation. A PM would not take a lot of time and would be more polite.

I save my pictures to my photobucket account then use the link tag in the post so it does not save it to the site taking space, or at least I think thats the way it works, I would hope.
