The Coffee Shop / Good News - A Follow Up
« on: December 10, 2010, 06:05:43 pm »
Good Day Folks!

Today was the BIG day - the meeting that decided our faith at work - Good news, I still have a Job! At least for another year.  Bad news is, they are breaking up the best level 4 tech support group. This past year we closed over 12,000 trouble tickets, next closest group only did 3,500.  This includes weeks  where we were down 4 to 6 techs, leaving only 3 of us. It's hard to explain in great detail, in a post what we have accomplish in 6 short years.  It's going to be interesting, what the New Year will bring. I am going to look at what ever happens with a positive attitude.  Change is good, things were getting stale anyway, and I look forward to my new adventure.

Thanks for listening,

Steven

Good Day Folks!

What a difference, some practice will do.  I have been learning a lot thanks to the kind folks here. When I first got my saw, I have never did any kind of woodworking.  I am having a lot of fun learning, and experimenting. As you can see from the 2 pictures below, the difference between my first attempt, and several projects later. I have also been experimenting with different ways of finishing my projects.  The key is, I am having a lot of fun, and I am finding this hobby very relaxing.

The Coffee Shop / Registering a Business Name
« on: November 18, 2010, 07:10:31 pm »
Good Day Folks!

How does one go about registering a business name? I came up with a name, registered the domain, but was wondering if any knows, what is the process to register the name has a business to protect it from being used by someone else? At this time, I don't plan on selling any of my works, but it might be a possibility in the future. Is this even necessary? I see a lot of posts talking about selling at craft shows and on Etsy, did you just pick a name and use it, or did you register it has a trademark?

Thanks in Advance,

Steven

Good Day All!

I was out shopping, and saw these Halloween Sprinkle Lab Kits, they were on clearance for $1, and I thought to myself, these would make nice blade holders.  I emptied the contents, and glued them together.

Brag Forum / Getting Better I think

Good Day All!

Here is my latest cut.  I decided I would surprise my lady this morning with some flowers and name plate.  The basket and flowers were purchased, I made the name plate.  The more I cut, the more I am learning.  I am having an issue with the tape coming lose, and sawdust getting between the tape and pattern, thus not being able to see the lines.  I am starting to see some improvement, with my cuts, and learning from my "mistakes".  The main point is I am having a lot of fun!

First off, thanks for all that you do, and the wonderful videos that you produce and share.  Any chance of making a portrait cutting video how-to?  I think they would compliment your portrait making videos.

Just a thought and thanks again,

Steven

The Coffee Shop / Charity Donations

I usually don't post jokes, cause I am almost positive they have been heard before.

I just had a call from a Charity asking me to donate some of my  clothes to the starving people throughout the world.

I told them to  kiss my but.  Anybody who fits into my clothes isn't starving.

Pattern Requests. / How to go about cutting it
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:38:44 am »
Good Day Folks,

I would like to cut the picture in the upper left hand corner http://www.cnwhs.org/  Is there a way I could make it an "ornament" type cut.  Or do you think I should cut out the pieces, and glue them to a backer board and make a plaque.  One day, when my skills are better, I would like to try to make it into a Intarsia project.

Thanks in advance for suggestions,

Steven

Pattern Requests. / Question regarding the bulliten
« on: October 09, 2010, 10:07:48 am »
Good Day Folks!

I have a emblem, I would like to request be made into a pattern for personal use.  It's of a railroad that is now defunct , I see patterns on here for a Pontiac Catalina, and a Ford truck.  I was wondering if it would be OK to ask someone for help in making the pattern.  Is there a way to submit the picture for approval?  I don't want to make anyone mad, or get Steve in trouble.

Thanks in advance,

Steven

I seen this on the Harbor Freight website http://www.harborfreight.com/clearance/wooden-bridge-94704.html  - Do you think the price is worth it for the wood?  I was thinking that it would be good for some scroll saw projects?
