Brag Forum / Whirligig Wars 2016 my entry
« on: October 10, 2016, 07:58:51 pm »
I'm not sure if this is ok to post in the Brag Forum,  but I put a entry in for the Whirligig Wars 2016.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kq7WTQPviI  I have my fingers crossed.
this is sort of like the St, dog I made before,   on this one,   I made the stand look like a bone,  the one big end helps find the correct direction in the wind.    made a better dog house,   and my bowl had water splashing out of it.  ( not real painted on)
where I have my gear,  I tried to make it look like a dog bite,   and the end where the propeller is,   I made another dog bite.   looked funny with the bone end  on it.   like the other side.

Pattern Requests. / Wee tiny mouse (would like a 3d)
« on: May 01, 2016, 11:16:08 pm »
I am trying working on a new project.     and I need a tiny tiny 3d mouse.   if any one can make one,  it would be so happy.  the biggest it can be is 1/2 inch. ( not counting tail)  and I can glue a tail of string or wire.

I would love to learn how to make a 3d pattern.  does any one know where I start?  or how does a non artist learn how to do one.

Thank you so much for any help.

Thank you for all the info.   I do have a  Table saw,  and a chop saw.    I use my chop saw a lot,  not so much the table saw.
I did buy the " 4 in. Mighty-Mite Table Saw with Blade" from Harbor Fright for 36.00  have used it two times, and works good
with the Balsa wood I am using right now.

Just love to see this,   Makes me so happy when my granddaughter wants to use my scroll saw.
( a good project is to get a clip art of a apple ..   cut it out as a puzzle,  have a piece for each
child in their class.. then let them take the apple and have each student sign their piece.   then we varnished it.
and the teacher just loved it.   that was about 6 years ago.  and the teacher still displays in the class room)

When I was putting  it together I bought a brad gun.   I never have used one ,  and of course I did not  read the instructions,  or watch a
Youtube video.  I busted the legs and  messed up the base.  Out of the two I was able to save one.
I gave my  friend one,  then I enlarged the pattern 10% and made mine.  Now I am drilling the holes.  putting a
dab of JD wield.  and dropping the brad in.   Yes I have watched Youtube now.  read the booklet and one day will use that brad gun.
Now I am working on the Cowboy automaton in the newest Gizmos and Gadgets magazine,   fingers crossed that mine will move.

I am working on a new whirligig.   and when cutting out my propellers,  instead of using tape.   ( which I was out of... and found this worked)
I got my hot glue gun out. and just did a few drops on each piece of wood,  just made sure it was in the inside of my cutting area.  and it worked so good.   and then I just was able to flick the glue off.   was a lot faster then tape,  and did not have to stop to re tape to keep all together.

Some of the newer ones he did... but that's been awhile was with x5,   and some earlier ones where with  Corel Draw3 I believe.
Sure wish he would do some more on Corel.   I sure learned a lot.
