Title: Mike's Mantle Nativity Pattern
Post by: shutterbugdm on January 07, 2011, 03:39:37 pm
I am working on Mike's Mantle Nativity and have the stable all cut out and getting ready to assemble. If anyone has done this one, what do you recommend for gluing/connecting pieces?

Most people would use Titebond 2 or 3, But I use Aleen's tacky glue. It is thick and will hold pieces together while it dries, and it dries clear. You can find it at craft stores such as Michael's.

another question. Ref Aleen's Tacking Glue, you say it dries clear. How does it react to stain.

Like any other glue, it will not stain. So stain your project before you glue, or make sure you don't have any glue squeeze out before you stain.
I don't use any stains on any of my projects, so I don't have that problem, but with the tacky glue you can remove any squeeze out with a tooth pick before it sets up.
