Fiqures, I just ordered one from Grizzly last week and paid more. I have to say though that it arrived very quickly and was easy to set up. I was scrolling within the hour. So far so good.

My only confusion is the blade tension - my RBI Hawk has a sticker on it which tells you what tension to use for what size blade (but with their saw it's not a number it's a 'clock' position- like 11:00 o'clock) so I don't even know where to start with the Dewalt. I've been setting it at 2 for a 5 blade, does that sound anywhere close???

steve has a blade tension software program that he posted on january 8th 2010 heres the link http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2010/01/scroll-saw-blade-tension-software.html.

i normally set the tension to a 4 or 4 1/2 on mine.

Dobie - Since it was such a short time ago, they might honor the price for you and give you a refund.  Email them!

From my understanding they have to refund you the difference if purchased within 30 days of the sale.    8)

I'd contact them for sure I'm pretty sure they will honor it.  if not tell em how many members here are watching to see how you are treated....LOL

I usually set my 788 around 4 1/2.  Only a ball park depends on the blade.

I set the tension on my 788 at 4-4 1/2 for a number 5 blade.

Purchased the same saw from Grizzly about 2 months ago at the same price. Am very satisfied with the saw & service that I received from them. Seems like a very good company to deal with. Anyone that purchases this saw will love it. Can't say that I am great at using it YET but I guess that when I put enough time in that will change.......

I think I'm tightening mine too much.  What will occur from this?  Broken blades?  Will you notice any difference in the cut?

Actually you want as much tension as possible on the blade without it slipping or breaking. If you are breaking blades, lower the tension a little bit. The more tension you have, the more control of the blade you will have.

That is a good price.  I paid $50.00 more for the same set up two years ago at Woodcraft.  Anyone looking for a good saw will not be disappointed with the Dewalt.

Thanks for the input - yeah I just got my saw last week, ordered it 4th of July weekend, so I will see if they will honor the price difference - Thanks, would have never thought of that.

Also thanks for the blade tension advise, I was a little shy at going too high with the tension, as I'm a little gun shy of blades flying in my face (my RBI's top blade holder keeps slipping it's blade). I have noticed that although the Dewalt's blade seems snug at 2 I can't seem to control it as well as the saw I am used to, so I'll try a tighter tension  - Thanks again.
