Uploading a picture that was too big for the site.

This was cropped from a full sized 1.5MB jpg picture to get below 128kB.

Sugar Grove Bald Eagle - this guy and his mate have taken up residence in our neighborhood.

Reducing file size for an upload.

I opened this file in GIMP2 (from a Nikon DSLR - 3008x2000 pixel), then did a Save As (new file name) and set the save quality to 4%. That got it down from 1.5MB to 119kB and could upload. But the quality is poor when you click on it.

Using MS Office Picture Manager Compress to Web Page size

Same 1.54MB picture, loaded into MS Office Picture Manager, compressed to Web Page size, then Save As with a new name. I think this looks better than the GIMP Result.

I use a site to upload too like photobucket then use the img tag's to post the link in the post and the picture will show in the post.
