St. Louis, MO...
I have a beautiful Hegner 18" scroll saw for sale. It is Serial # 414912, Model Multimax 18. I have enjoyed working with this machine, however, now I can no longer do the work. I would like to see this go to a good home. Price is negotiable. --- Just remember that this is the Cadillac of Scroll Saws!!!
If you are interested, please call me at 1-618-234-6993 or contact me by e-mail at leeruth@juno.com. Ask for Ruth, please.
Anybody have any interest or thoughts?

I hate seeing ads like that. Usually the person is selling for a lost loved one. I know a lady that is over 80 that does beautiful scrolling and Intarsa. I dread the day she gives it up. I think it keeps her young. You need a purpose to get up when you have outlived your relatives. Friends will keep you going until the body quits though. That saw is probably in mint condition. Take a body guard anyway though if you check it out. ha....

I can see it now.

I am sure that is the case that someone either passed away or can no longer use the tools. There is another post near that about a bandsaw/jointer combo that is an estate liquidation.
It may seem crass but my will stipulates that all my meager remaining assets are to be sold at auction because I have no relatives among all those that I do have that would have any interest in anything I leave.
That way no one's nose gets out of joint because somebody got something that someone else thought they should get.
If they want it they can bid on it.

I wish! Just bought that 788 and I am getting new bridgework this Wednesday!
I'm tapped out for the foreseeable future!
Current 'Amazon' retail on that Hegner is $1,240.00!!!

All so true...I think most of us can relate to the all tapped out comment..Times are getting tighter.

Ok, I gotta ask... for that price, what does the Hegner 18" scroll saw do that a 788 doesn't?
At around $1500 it should make my coffee in the morning.
-
It probably won't make your coffee in the morning, but you can set your cup of coffee on the scroll table and it won't vibrate or shake off. LOL.

RE: Tapped Out!
Approximately $2,300 for the new bridgework!
Another one of the 'perks' of getting older!
EVERYTHING wears out!!!

Just looked at Craigs List here (Seattle area) and there are TWO Hegners listed. One for $600 and one for $450. The one for $450 was inherited from his grandfather 13 yrs ago and he never used it. Grandpa's probably moaning in his grave right now. You can see the other at: http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/tls/1836128245.html
