I have been off this site for some time. Been working at my new job so not much time for working on new things. I have been making a lot of the Story Cross that I posted last time. Making about 8 of them for sale. I was buying more wood and the store had this piece of scrap. So I decided to see what I could do with it. This cross ended up about 10 in tall by 6 wide.

very nice cross.
gave me some thoughts looking at it...
nice the way the knot sits in the middle of the cross.
kind like the cross is around every "knot" in our live.

and the hole...
gives me the thought that there is a space / room in the cross for every sinner to take shelter.
hope you don't mind  me ponder/blathering away here....  :D ;D :D

Thanks for your insight. I always do the same when I work on a project like this. I almost viewed it the same way. For me the knot was the sin that we leave at the cross. I also see this cross made from an unwanted piece of wood. Someone had discarded that section of a board because it looked scarred and damaged. In the same way we are unwanted and worthless due to our sin. Yet God redeems us and makes us into a new creation, through the power of Jesus on the cross. I also liked your thought on the hole. I see it as our lives have a hole that needs to be filled. We can either fill it with the things of this world which will end up leaving us just as empty. Or we can will that hole in our lives with the redeeming love of Jesus. God alone can truly fill the emptiness in our life. But you are also correct, there is room at the cross for each and everyone of us. The more I think about it, the more I like this cross. =)

Nicely done. Looks like there may be enough of the same board left for a cross for a necklace or to hang from a rear-view mirror.

I had enough to make 2 other crosses.One 7 in by 5.5 in. One about 6 in by 4. I still have some left over to make a few smaller ones. It was a great buy to find this piece of wood.

I like the idea of using a wood flaw as a design feature in a cross.  I think I will try that.  Thanx for posting.
