Nice work and I like it natural, too.
Sue Mey also has the tree with squirrels or dogs. They are imaginative.

Wonderful work and what a display! And I thought I liked to do fretwork. Amazing.

Interesting, the word "artistry". I don't think of myself as an artist. Don't design anything, just patterns. So, sometimes I will say mechanic, but that's not quite right either. Whatever I am called, will continue to enjoy life.

I was thinking more of shaping the leaves in the pots, for instance. Clever way to do the flowers. Thank you for sharing. Nice that we do that for each other. We are a community.

The train depot was made in secret (not easy to manage) for my husband's birthday two years ago. He loved steam engines and did get to drive a locomotive at an exhibition place in Michigan. Thrill of his life. Son has the clock now.

Wonderful!
How do you hang on to the small pieces when sanding. Would think they might fly across the room!

Loaded some more pictures of things made in the almost year since moving.
Am really enjoying scrolling, plus bowling, cards games, dominos and making new friends.

Since moving to the retirement community have gotten a few things made.
Currently working on Dirk Boelman's Big Ben and an elaborate French Mirror from Rick H. site. There have been some other things, but just figured out how to post pictures here. Pat B

The vacuum on the Seyco site can be found under "Accessories". It is the last item.

Wildwood has cherry plywood, 16"x24". Not cherry all the way through, but good two sides. wildwoddesigns. com

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: BLO/Mineral Spirits

That is what I prefer to use, but not practical in an apartment because of the odor. Only so much room sometimes in the little paint room at the wood shop here at the retirement village. Sheila Landry mentions using mineral oil. There is no odor. Think it brings out the grain, but seems to take longer to be ready to spray on the lacquer.
Plan to use the BLO/spirits for special projects anyway.

Yes, I like the idea of the Lexan. Hmm, must find out where to get some.

Think my first saw was about as cheap as you can go. A rebuilt Dremel (12 years ago) from Harbor Freight and it arrived broken. Husband fixed it and I am still at it. Fought that thing for a year or so, with difficult blade changing even with a kit that made it a tiny bit easier. Then came the DeWalt 788. It is still chugging along and so am I.

Gabby, that is great for pieces with large cut-outs, but how about fret work with tiny, lacy cut-outs. You wouldn't be able to see where to center the hole in the aid. Maybe if the scrap wood was cut in two, thru the drill hole. It could be lined up with the small place to be cut and the drill bit held against it. Haven't tried that tho.
We all do different types of scrolling.
