Pattern Requests. / Need help with a pattern
« on: March 23, 2015, 08:19:13 pm »
Hi Guys and Gals it has been a while since I checked in, I have been trying to do my own patterns but this one is special. It is for a friend of mine whos pop passed away recently and she wants me to do a portrait of him. He was an avid camper and loved to play the guitar. could one of you fine pattern makers work your magic and come up with a pattern. It does not need to be like the lay out in the picture as long as the words "camping in Paradise and a guitar are incooperated. Thanks a million for any support you can give.  Even if I could get a pattern of the gentleman I would be able to add the other items later.

As a boy we saw this sort of thing all the time. There is 0 clearance. This one doesn't have a plough. I remember seeing the train with a 10 foot or higher plough that was V shaped. Boy did that move snow.

It is a very old and culturally based tradition. Over the years it has changed dramatically especially in the more urban areas. My father in law on Christmas Eve would prepared a large roast just for that purpose. When and if any mummers did show up they would more than likely been on the go for several hours, he would give them a shot of grog ( rum) a slice of bread and a piece of meat before they went on to their next house. As Todd already said they mostly visit family and the receivers are usually expecting the visit. It is customary that at least one mummer show their face before entering any houses.  ;)

Roger I am sure there are individuals on here that can cut these with their Scrollsaw, but I'm not that gifted. I do enjoy the lathe but not as much as my Excalibur ;D
