Ask Steve a question. / Whirligig Project

Steve, I've really enjoyed your development of your whirligig project.  There were a couple of things I could not determine from your pics.  How did you attach the moving arm to the body and did the left arm use a similar spacer as the right arm - for symmetry?  Regards Gary Cooke

The stickman series are a great opportunity to do something whimsical with our wood working.  You are correct - Steve's story telling imagination always bring a smile to me with his stick man tales.  Keep up your creative efforts Steve.   > GLC

D-Tone I am sure you will enjoy this community and expand your knowledge from all who share so freely.  We, unfortunately, do not arrive on this Earth with all of the skill sets that we desire in latter life.  Most of us went down the roads and sidewalks with the training wheels on for quite a while.  Enjoy your scroll saw - It is a great tool and will bring you much pleasure.   GLC

Sounds like Jimm found the solution that we were looking for with the "daylight LED bulb w/ candelabra base".   GLC

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Foot switch

I prefer to use the deadman switch when operating my scroll saw.  I prefer the "instant off" when I release my foot from the switch vs scrambling to turn it off when something goes awry, as happens on occasion.  It's a choice.  >>  GLC

Thank you all!  I recently broke a piece that was special - for a sick family member.  I was so sad, but I managed to repair it.  At the time - I didn't think of all of you who have walked before me.  The next time I stumble - I hope to remember this and smile.

You might want to try www.heritagewood.com/#!

You will see them on the left border of Steve's blog page each day.  They have a good selection of hardwoods as well as baltic birch plywood.  They custom cut each order when it comes in - so others who sell from stocked inventory will be a little faster.  I have been pleased with my purchases there.  Steve did a video on them some months back complimenting their product.

I have cut Steve's keychains out of 1/4" hardwoods.

Enjoy your efforts.   GLC
