Fond memories for virtually all of us.  I recall traveling US Highway 75 as a youngster between Fort Worth and Houston, Texas to visit family.  I think that on the US Highways where the roads were much narrower than the latter developed Interstate system the signs were much closer to our vehicles.  If my history is correct the
Interstate system was developed by Eisenhower as he had appreciated the value of the German autobahns   which basically superseded the US Highways.  Oh and as a point of reference I am 73.

I purchase from Heritagewood.com.  They have baltic birch ply and "spec wood" in 1/8" and 1/4" thickness as well as thicker cuts.  They do not carry a bountiful inventory, but cut to order.  This usually runs two to three weeks for order to delivery cycle.  Try to think ahead or have other things on hand when you order from them so there is no impact to you.  Toneman's suggestion to stack cut will increase your efficiency and speed.

I have no real preference, but if I am painting them I use baltic birch and hardwood for stained or clear finish.  Many of the common ornament patterns do not present an opportunity to show off much pretty grain which pushes me to baltic birch for those.  Something for you to give some thought to.  Regards, GLC from Cypress, Tx

Lou, welcome to Steve's blog.  There are a lot of very knowledgeable and helpful folks here.  I purchased my DW 788 a few months before you.  I am so pleased to hear that you have your saw back from the warranty service center and appear to be pleased.  I had my saw in the Dewalt Service Center in Houston, Texas twice and am convinced that there is NOT ONE TECHNICIAN in that facility that has been trained to service their DW 788 saws.  Obviously, I am disappointed with my experience and pleased to hear that you had a satisfactory experience with Dewalt.  Regards GLC

Well Woodrush, prior to 8-14 traffic on the community forum of the blog had been virtually non existent for several days.  Not sure if there is a culprit or just the roll of the dice, so to speak.  I have seen it occur like this in the past on occasion.   I am confident that the traffic will return.  Regards from GLC in Cypress, Texas......
