The Coffee Shop / Giving Credit for Patterns
« on: July 19, 2012, 07:46:45 am »
How do you folks give credit for patterns? Until recently I have used word of mouth.   Something like  "Did you make that?"  Yes, I cut it out but the pattern came from Steve Good   or  The pattern was inspired by Steve Good and I changed it."  Whether I sell or give the piece away I am sure the designers name is quickly forgotten. I have read where some of you actually sign your work. Do you  credit the pattern maker that way also?  Honestly I have not  but will if possible. I use a branding iron on most pieces with my name but many are too small or just not able to be branded. I like the signature idea!~

Mahendra

I grabbed a copy and it looks good to me. Whe have three of the "angles with whiskers" an I will cut it at some point.  You might want to put your name somewhere on the pattern page so folks can give you credit.  I use Corel also and when I import a pattern and make my tweaks I try to put the patern makers name just over the top of the page  for future reference. I see tje pattern has been downloaded 7 times so you should get some feedback.  Thanks for sharing!

Third day with no shop time - Rather no scrolling time. The scrollsaw table is jut to hot! I did have to rebuild a set of steps on the back yesterday. Started at 7:30 AM and by 8:00 it was already too hot! Be glad for a weather break but hope we donot get the violent storms.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Can i get a blower for my scroll saw
« on: July 17, 2012, 04:44:07 pm »
This subject seems to come up often, so I wanted to put in my 2C.  I was looking for a aquarium pump a couple of years ago when I ran across a used nebulizer at a flea market. I kinda explained what I wanted it for to the lady but she really didn't understand. I was not sure if it would work correctly  but she offered it for $1. Long story short -  It is still hooked up today.  I left the original blower hooked up (Dewalt 788). I have it hooked to my foot switch so it comes on and off with the saw.

Introduce Yourself. / Hello from the Middle Peninsula
« on: July 16, 2012, 05:46:23 pm »
Hello all,Billy from Va. I have been scrolling for about 3 years and hooked for about 2 years 12 months!  I am on the middle Peninsula 25 miles up the York River  from Yorktown Va and across the river from Williamsburg Va.  Started reading this forum about a week ago with the intention of getting "caught up" before jumping in. Well that ain't gonna happen.  Feel like I already know many of you from posts, patterns, brag items and the gallery. I will continue reading but now feel I can join in also. I have learned so much already ---  many
thanks to all.  Biggest problem now is dragging myself away from the computer to go and cut something.  Thanks to Steve and all the others for such a fantastic forum!!

Billy On the beautiful York River  :)
