Computer questions / HELP I NEED SOME BODY
« on: April 16, 2014, 03:27:43 pm »
hi all
right this XP business with no more support,I am already having problems with flash player crashes and the likes of.
Now I can't or don't want to run to the cost of 7 or 8 unless really no option.
now I am currently using  a desk top machine running at 3.2 ghz dual core so a virtual 6.4 ghz and 4 gb Ram.
Right I do have a certified unused copy of Vista of which I could upgrade to, but am worried whether it will be OK

The reason being that prior to the desktop I used a Laptop with vista at 1.73 ghz  2 mb ram and had issues with it
was this simply because I was asking the laptop to do to much
connected to it was as with the current machine
an old HP 1120c wide format printer
A brother ql570 label printer
Bamboo series one graphics pad
and an HP 6520 inkjet

so the question really is if I use the upgrade facility on the vista disc do you think I will be out of the woods ( for at least now)

regards
Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / DELTA 650
« on: March 29, 2014, 12:35:19 pm »
Hi all
Has anyone got, had one or know about the Delta 650 Q3.
I got one yesturday and must say its a decent saw the extra speed really ploughs through the stock, however I suspect it has a fault. When you hit the start button there is about a 2 second delay before the motor kicks in, and I'm thinking this is not normal- or is it?
And if its not supposed to do this does anyone know why it happens.
I have checked and tested the on/off switch and it is a positive action, and also checked the brushes and they are perfect.
So i will be grateful for any input

Brag Forum / Sometimes its the simplist of thimgs
« on: February 23, 2014, 11:54:36 am »
Made this to add to the range of product for mothers day, just a simple pattern and I cant make them fast enough
they are just 18mm MDF and sprayed. The heart comes out for ease of painting.
I have posted the pattern in case any one wants it feel free
Just a tip if you make one use a larger blade ( at least to cut out the heart) this will leave a slack fit, but when you paint it it become a tighter friction fit

General Scroll Saw Talk / EXCALIBUR SAWS
« on: February 08, 2014, 12:09:39 pm »
I have been using various saws, starting with the cheapies and working upwards as we do. I was hoping this year to get an EX-21 ( the only decent machine available in the UK)
However I have just read a thread on another forum that suggests the UK version of the EX range is in fact poor quality.
Does anyone know if they actually farm out the build for overseas markets or is this just a myth???

General Scroll Saw Talk / air blowers
« on: December 23, 2013, 12:30:45 pm »
You  probably already know this but if you find that your air blower is not working or not good enough
go out and buy an air pump for a tropical fish aquarium and connect it to your saw- works brilliant
merry christmas to all

Computer questions / snall ups
« on: July 28, 2013, 12:40:52 pm »
calling computer gurus
I have a problem
some time ago the scrotes nicked my computer tower, since then I've been using a laptop (HP)
its been ok but when I have been using gimp and inkscape for a while it starts to play up and often have to reboot to clear the memory. now the question is is this just  a memory shortage problem
(only 1GB currently installed) or will it be also the processor speed currently running a 1.73Gb
I don't want to go out and buy an update for the ram if it's both?

On the night of the 16th/17th May 1943 (70 years ago today) the 617 squadron left my home county of Lincolnshire, on a mission to the rhyl valley of Germany. The squadron became famously named
"the Dam Busters" there actions and heroism led to shortening the war effort in Europe.
We are in the County celebrating the squadron, but please give give a thought for the 53 UK  US  and Canadian air crew of whom never returned from that mission

Brag Forum / the dog (with tail) and a horse
« on: May 15, 2013, 11:26:45 am »
Hi
I got round to cutting the dog I posted the pattern of a couple of days ago, and left the tail in as this mutt was known for having a bushy tail, and besides the customer wanted it.
The other is a horse that was cut from a stock photo for advertising purposes.
thankks for loooking
Dave
