General Scroll Saw Talk / Anybody sawing their own lumber?
« on: August 26, 2014, 08:24:44 pm »
Just wondering how many here saw their own lumber? I'm using an Alaskan Mill and my beat up chainsaw and my beat up back are ready to move up. Any suggestions?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Dust Control
« on: February 14, 2013, 04:50:51 pm »
Hi everyone,
I have a 20" box fan with a furnace filter attached to it to control dust at my scrollsaw. Seems to work better than wearing a dust mask, but I still end up coughing a lot if I use the saw for longer than a half hour. I had my dust collector hook to it at one time but got tired of the roar. So I ended up buying a respirator for dust. The price was right, is comfortable, and works MUCH better than a cheap dust mask and more importantly, no more hacking up a lung after sawing for awhile. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.pksafety.com/asledu.html

General Scroll Saw Talk / Tilt-O-Scroll
« on: January 26, 2013, 03:47:58 pm »
I recently made a scrollsaw bowl. It turned out good and I've had a few request for more of them. The problem is that I hate trying to cut with the table tilted. No problem, I'll just buy a EX21. Whoa, heart says do it, wallet says no way!
Here is the solution to my dilemma, tilt the table, then tip the saw to get the table level again. A poor mans EX21!
Check out the picture and tell me what you think. I can tip it 45 degrees both ways.

Hey everyone,
This is Brian from New York. I've been scrolling for about 4 years now and dabbling in woodworking on and off about 20 yrs.. Started with a noisy Craftsman 16" single speed scrollsaw/paint shaker and now have a Dewalt 788. One small step for the wallet and giant step for my scrolling! Looking forward to expanding my skills with everyones help and maybe giving help when I can.

Hi everyone,
I've been making Christmas ornaments out of 1/4" Baltic Birch Plywood. In the narrower areas, I have trouble with splintering the bottom veneer out of the plywood. I'm using FD #3 Scroll Reverse blades and change them every ornament. Is there a better blade for this or should I fabricate a zero clearance insert for the DW788?  Thanks in advance.
