General Scroll Saw Talk / Type of plywood
« on: February 14, 2021, 12:10:39 pm »
I am new to woodworking and I am trying to identify the plywood that I am using I just finished my first project a king size cherry bed and I had some leftover 1/4 inch cherry plywood that I purchased one sheet for $60.  I don't know if it's MDF or something else.  Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Protech 3303 the upper arm does not raise up.  I am trying to do the Santa pattern Steve put out the other day.  I didn't know if there are any tips or tricks in getting the blade in the holes in the center of the big board 10" I have bent the blade trying to get it in the holes.  Thanks in advance for any help.

I have just recently came into woodworking.  Looking for a hobby that gets me out into the shop.  I have 7 kids and need a distraction some times.  Also a good way to connect with the kids I have found.  I have always enjoyed woodworking but never had shop class in high school.  So YouTube and the woodwhisper got me started.  I have slowly built my woodworking tools mostly used but hesitate to build something with out the all the proper tools.  The scroll saw is the only one that doesn't need much additional besides the Saw.  I have a Protech 3303 that is about 25 years old.   I have just been working on the practice pieces and watching Steve's videos.  I have got to say a magnifying light and a pedal makes a world of difference.  I have just started within the last week trying snowflakes designs which help on cutting straight and tight turns.  Learned that accent lines are called veining and to use an aquarium pumps for make shift blower from the forum already.  So looking forward to what I can learn from everyone else.

New to scroll saw work.  The manger box I am working on has accent lines on the pieces.  Or even in Steve's  horse and wagon he posted recently.  Are those cut through.  They do not appear to be completely cut through. How do I make those lines.  Thanks for any help.
