General Scroll Saw Talk / Newbie Needs Help!
« on: May 29, 2010, 11:56:01 pm »
What kind of material (and thickness) does one use to cut designs with long, narrow parts, such as the cross in Steve Good's design of "Hello God. It's Me Again"?  I'd really like to make this, but can't help but think the vertical and/or horizontal sections of the cross would break before I could even finish.  All help will be greatly appreciated.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Ooops!
« on: May 19, 2010, 11:51:57 am »
Well, I finally did my first real project.  Used Steve's pattern for "I Love My Schnauzer", and it came out pretty good if I must say so myself.  Wife loved it.  Then I started hand sanding it a bit, holding it in one hand.  It was then that I dropped it onto the garage floor and the "e" and "r" went flying.  Can't say here what I really said but it wasn't nice.  I've since made a new e and r and got them attached but I've learned a lesson.  I'm sure none of the rest of you have ever done a big Ooops, have you?  ;)

Just thought I'd throw my hat in the ring with the rest of you.  I'm new to scrolling, and really haven't done much as yet other than buy the DeWalt 788, blades, and other tools to get ready.  I'm an avid reader of Steve's emails and really appreciate all the You Tube video "How To's" from him.  I'll probably be asking lots of questions soon.  Steve, thanks for all you do.
