Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Laser point for drilling .
« on: April 24, 2019, 09:06:05 am »
Hi folks,
I recently viewed Steve's topic on the laser guide for his drill press,I do not have a drill press but a version that is designed for portable drills and the device he used will not fit on my type of press .
So as a solution I purchased a couple of lasers at $5 from China on Ebay and mounted them in a wooden frame that fitted under the drill clamp.
I then wired them to a spare 5v cellphone battery booster and when required just plug in, no switches needed.
The lasers are focus adjustable but when set at the right place a dab of hot glue is needed to keep them set or the vibration of the drill will send them off again.
The  alignment of the cross center is done by moving the wooden frame around on the clips,it takes a little time to set up but is a cheap and effective way of being accurate when drilling your projects.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Tape on partially finished work

Hi
When I removed decals from vehicles we used a heat gun set low and applied hot air from a safe distance to the work this method softens the adhesive and is a clean solution a hair dryer will also work depending on the work you are applying heat to.

Hi Everyone
I joined the forum to offer and obtain some knowledge of this great pastime .I have been scrolling for some 15 years on and off previously on a magnetic scrollsaw from France but that got expensive to maintain so I have now obtained a Hegner 2 which is really a lot better to use.
I have done a couple of Steve's teddy bear boxes with my own twist to them ( posted today ) and offered a money saving tip on the Hegner bellow replacement.
I shall look forward to seeing some great stuff from you guys.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Hegner scrollsaw bellows renewal tip
« on: April 15, 2019, 09:59:07 am »
Hi everyone
I have a tip for all the Hegner  owners who have to renew the bellows because they are brittle with age.Forget the $30  for a new one go to your auto store and spend $5 on a CV joint for a compact or smaller car. The one that fits the British Mini is ideal if not make sure it is a universal type so you can cut it to the required size .
It works a treat and will last forever, the pic shows the new bellows in place with the surplus rings removed.
