General Scroll Saw Talk / Whirlygig... first one.... problems
« on: August 30, 2015, 10:45:00 pm »
I'm making my first whirligig.   have it all cut out,  painted and ever sprayed it.  but going nuts on trying to bend the
rod.    I did not get a kit.  and is there a easy way to do it?    I'm making the mule that kicks the shoer...  or who ever the man is.
Thanks Lorace...     thinking I might order one from Cherrytree,  and just hope it works.

« on: August 20, 2015, 01:21:27 am »
I want to try and make a whirligig.   The  one I really like is of horses running.
I clicked on the link to buy it.  but to tell the truth I was a tad afraid of the web site.
When I first clicked on it.  was not any whirlygig's.   when I did find it.    I was afraid to buy.

does anyone know a place to buy a pattern like that.  that you trust?

I did see a mule one that I like.   I have never made a whirligig..   are they eazy?  or hard??
Thank you

Brag Forum / Labrador Retrievers sign
« on: January 09, 2015, 10:33:05 am »
I made this sign for a friend of my husband,  who has two Labrador Retrievers.
The small bone is for the man that owns them.

I also just did another sign with a St. Bernard and a pit bull for a friend.   will post photos later.

While my Granddaughter is busy painting all her items she has cut out with the scroll saw,   I was able
to squeeze some scroll time in myself,  and made my husband this picture frame of our favorite boy.

This is a " Dude Ranch"  my 13 year old granddaughter made.   She is making things and selling for her class at school to help
raise money to go to Washington DC.   ( she sold it for $30.00) Granny is staying out of the business end.  She is doing all the work.

I found on YOUTUBE, under " Bluelighting TV" a tutorial where I made these two photos,  in photoshop.  ( also in youtube you can type in photoshop wood burning and it will bring it up)
Now this is my first try so need to  take my time next time,  and make it better.  but now that I have this.....   Is it a pattern I can use on my scroll saw?  I can reverse it in photoshop .   I have never worked with a project of a photo... so I am not sure if this will also work as a pattern.     If so you might like looking at the video.
Guess my question is...  Is this a pattern I can use to make a " real "  wood design.
If anyone want to see the lesson and cant find it.   I can add the link.
WOW this post is a mess.

Hope you can help..   and if its a pattern to buy that is fine.  just where do I buy it?

Brag Forum / Saint Bernard

I just made this Saint Bernard.   He is life size.  and goes with two Monks that are
life size. They will have their faces cut out.   so you can put your face in and take a silly
photo.   they are suppose to be in the snow.   all three make a nice photo when place together.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Weight that helped me
« on: April 24, 2014, 12:45:28 am »
I think this is the right place to put a hint.
I was working with a large ply board,  and it was sort of jumping on me.
So I took some weights I had made...   I took 2 circles cut out of leather I had.   about 7" circle,  then
I filled them with shot,  and sewed them up.   I have about 6 now and use them all the time.  " my extra hand"

General Scroll Saw Talk / Delta 40-690 Air hose problem/ question
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:49:29 pm »
Hi
I have a Delta 40-690,  when I bought it I found the air hose was broken and would not stay in place.  I called WoodCraft where I bought it,  and they had Delta send me a new one.   and I can not get it on.   I have tried and tried.  so I just ducktaped the old one in place.   Well for the New Year's I want right!  Has anyone had the same problem.  what do you use?  or how can I get it on?   I have tried soaking in hot water for 15 min.  did not help.
Just wondering if anyone had this problem to,  and what you did.
Thanks
Lorace
