Upgrading my jointer...
« on: August 13, 2014, 03:21:26 pm »
I sold my old sears jointer and am looking to upgrade to a 6-8 inch benchtop style jointer.
I'm leaning toward the Jet JJP-8BT or the Grizzly G0725.

Which jointer do you folks have and are you happy with it?

Which jointer would you get if you could add one to your workshop?

I have the Shop Fox version of the Grizzley jointer, which has done a good job for me.

I have a Ridgid, which I'm not sure they sell anymore. It's a good one but I don't use it often.  Jointers scare the me.  I'm also not sure you will find a "benchtop" style jointer in a 6" or larger (that is by "benchtop" you want to mount it on a bench).  They usually come with a stand.

I had an older 6' Delta floor model and sold it when I found a deal on an 8" Jet.  i wouldn't trade the 8" for the world.  It's amazingly stable and solid.

I got a joiner 8 years ago and it has never been used.  Just sits there.  I wonder why....
