General Scroll Saw Talk / Ex-21 Help needed
« on: July 29, 2011, 03:44:48 pm »
Good Afternoon, I visit this post frequently but for the most part keep quiet.  I am hoping to get some help at this point.  I have an EX-21 that I have had for about 3 years now.  I was cutting ornaments last night and noticed that my bottom holes are alot bigger than my top holes.  I checked my bladed alignment and it is off front to back.  side to side is fine.  I am not sure how to adjust for front to back.  With the square touching the bottom of the blade the top is away from the blade about 1/8 inch.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Son in law Saturday
« on: September 20, 2010, 01:59:43 am »
Saturday was a great day.  My son in law came over just to play in my woodshop with me.  We cut out some name ornaments and I have to admit is was great.  We were sitting shoulder to shoulder each at a scrollsaw just cutting ornaments, jamming to some music and talking.  I am trying to get him hooked on this.  I see it happening slowly, the bad thing is they live 100 miles away and it is a 2 hour trip.  They live in a small apartment and do not have the room for a saw.  I have 2 and tried giving him one to take home with him but my daughter quickly pointed out they do not have the room.
We were to busy cutting and talking to take any pictures.  Maybe next time.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Price for name ornaments
« on: September 14, 2010, 04:19:44 pm »
Good afternoon,
I saw the notice from Steve about doing the patterns for the name ornaments and fell in love with those.  I sat down and start to make my list for steve to make the ornaments and afterI made my list for friends and work and family, then the wife made her list for her friends and church and her family the pist was just a little short of the national debt.  At this point I sat down and decided to figure out how to make the patterns myself.  Wife the help of some friends and photoshop  I made a pattern and now have to just fill in the names. save and print.  I first want to thank Stve for ginving me the motoviation to learn this now pattern makling process.  Second I have had a lot of offers to make some at work and not wanting to waste a good oppurtunity I have no idea how much to ask for them.  I cut them out of 1/4 brown maple and the ornamets are approx 4" in diamater.  Ater cutting them my wife sands them and I then put 4 coats of a pray lacquer on them to get the nice finish.  Does anyone have any idea how much I shoudl charge?
Thanks in Advance.

Introduce Yourself. / Hello from upstate Ny
« on: September 14, 2010, 01:58:36 am »
Hello from upstate ny.  My name is Gene my friends call me Geno.  I have been scrolling for about 7 years now and have ball dowing it.  I retired from the Navy in 1999 and was looking for a hobby.  During a visit to my Grandfathers he was in his garage making lamps.  He has been working with wood all of his life.  I loved the lamps he was making so I asked him if he would teach me.  The next day I bought a table saw and an sander and the rest is history.  woodworking went from a corner in my basement to consuming the whole basememt.  My Wife of 30 years does alot of my finish work so this is a joint venture.
We started doing Holiday craft shows about 5 years ago and that has been our main focal point.  We love doing holiday ornaments.
Ok I have to get ready fro work now.   Just wanted to stop by and say hi and thank you.
