General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: enlarging a pdf pattern

Just a thought that when you print you should see a tab to see/adjust preference's and it might be set to print to page size and not 100%.  My experience with Steve's pdf's is that if the template is larger than one page it will print on multiply pages and you just cut and tape together.  Worth a look.

I can't remember the last time I pre-finished a piece before assembly.  I'm not a big user of stain.  Generally I use a boiled linseed oil coat and then the clear coat, ie., spray, brush on, or wipe on.

Karl,

I think that is a great offer and I hope that some of the members take you up on it.

The "hint" worked.  Got my wood burning tool for Christmas.

I also have some of the FD-NS blades but I haven't really haven't used them for a complete project.  I have tried them but wasn't happy with the results, and then going right back to the blade I was originally using and comfortable with.  Reading some of the posts here I firmly believe it's just me and the saw speed probably wasn't fast enough and I may have been moving the wood to fast.  I really need to get a project and use the spiral blade for all the cuts.  Make sense?

Robert,

I'll just save it for next year in my Christmas ornament file.

Thank you.

Like others I generally put my initials on with a branding iron.   And when I forget to do this I will write my initials and date on with a sharp point marker.

And note to self drop a hint that a good Christmas gift for me would be a wood burner.

Pattern Requests. / Atlas Clock Pattern
« on: September 15, 2014, 11:41:22 am »
I'm looking for a pattern of atlas, but instead of holding the world he would be holding a clock.  Anyone ever see something like this?

I appreciate any help or ideas.

I made the top car,  the one that is painted different colors.  Last report the little guy is having a ball with it.  Nothing better when giving a  hand made gift the recipient enjoys it.

EIEIO,

I just finished making 3 copies of the race car that you posted.  A gal that my wife and I met a while ago at the local Panera asked if I could make her a race car puzzle for her 2 year old nephew.  I delivered it Friday morning and coincidentally the boys 2 year birthday was yesterday, Saturday.  I though just in time.

She asked how much, and I told her $125.00.  She then turns to Jane, my wife, and asked her the same question.  Well the end result was that I got a big hug, and I'm happy with the payment.

And by the way often when I make stuff like toys, puzzles, plaques, cutting boards, etc. I make extra copies.  They go into the closet in my office for future gifts.  Handmade items make great gifts.
