Brag Forum / Reindeer herd
« on: December 14, 2014, 04:15:38 pm »
I know many of you have also cut these, here?s my reindeer herd. All will be given away to relatives and friends. The hardest part was putting in the nose and the tiny screw eye on top.                                                               Pete

The portrait patterns of the Cartwright gang I used to put this project together were done by a member on another forum. Thanks Dan! 24x12 BB ply double stacked using combination of spiral and flat blades. ?Ponderosa? cutout is stained with golden oak. Backer is painted flat black. Frame is rough cut cedar, half lap joint with twine wrap. Thanks again Dan and all the other designers who let us enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Made this for my daughter's best friend who just had a baby. I think my pattern turned out OK, cut in 1/8" BB with spirals & flats. I didn't like how the "8" turned out, but oh well, it's on it's way to Portland OR.

Here's my variation of the gumball machine with a few changes. The hardest part was cutting the 30 degree angle for the candy catch on the lowest piece. Made from Alder with English Chestnut stain.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Mini spray booth
« on: October 25, 2013, 09:56:42 pm »
Made the little box for spraying adhesive on patterns and for applying finishes, paint, lacquer, shellac etc... It's about 20" high, wide, deep. There is a 4" air space (plenum) behind the filters (2) to help distribute the air evenly. It is vented to the outside of the house with a dryer type vent. The chain on top is for hanging small items. I will be lining the inside with butcher paper so I can replace it often. Here in Minnesota you can't always go outside to spray. :D

My daughter and her fianc? asked if I could make something for their upcoming wedding to remember those who have passed too soon. This is what we came up with. It?s two pieces of  1/4 ? BB. The top three lines of text (a_CooperBlack font) are individually cut out and glued to the wood. The bottom two lines (Free 4 All 1 font)  are cut into the wood. Yellow and black are their wedding colors.

Pattern is from a book. "WILDLIFE realistic 3-D scrollsaw art". All in 1/8" BB. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for your kind comments.
Question.....
After I cut all the pieces, I stain/oiled them, then spray laquer. Then when I went to assemble/glue I had a hard time getting pieces to stick. I tried tacky glue, super glue and then Titebond seemed to work best.
Is there a better glue for this, or should I have waited and spray laquered after assembly?

Cut this for a friend of mine out of a pattern I made from a picture of his tractor.  I have included the pattern, (minus any potential copyright issues) if anyone would like to have it.
