Ask Steve a question. / Seyco ST21 vibration/shaking Issue
« on: April 08, 2021, 04:10:36 am »
Hi Steve,  I know you use the ST-21 and seem to like it. I’ve had mine for a couple years with very light usage. Mine has a vibration actually more of a shaking that seems to emanate from the upper arm. I’ve been fighting this issue for over a year.  Ray over at Seyco has been very helpful in walking me through adjustments and possible fixes. Nothing has helped and this has turned my favorite hobby into stress causing rather than relieving situation. I’m thinking of getting rid of the saw and going back to a Dewalt. I thought I would reach out to you or others on the forum for possible help before I do that. The upshot of the shaking is that the blade is dancing all over the place making it nearly impossible to do any kind of intricate fret work or detailed work at all - strait lines and gentle curves I can manage but I need to stay super focused. I’ve been scrolling for 20 plus years and have used cheap saws and the Dewalt that I had just before the Seyco and never had an issue that I couldn’t work out. This has me frustrated and avoiding the hobby that I love. Any help would be so appreciated  thanks Dan

General Scroll Saw Talk / Wooden Utensils
« on: June 08, 2018, 10:15:18 pm »
Hello Everyone,  Hoping you could help me with some advice on the best wood to use for wooden cooking utensils.  I recently made a batch of wooden spatulas out of hard maple and gave them a couple of cotes of mineral oil.  The first one I used and washed seemed to soften up a bit.  Is there a better wood and/or finish to use for this purpose. Thanks - D-Tone

Introduce Yourself. / Hello From D-Tone

Hello All,  I'm new to the forum and looking forward to being part of this community.  I recently retired and my coworkers all pitched in and bought me a really nice scroll saw so I would have something to do in retirement.  So far my scrolling ability does not live up the the quality of the saw, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
