The Coffee Shop / In Reply to Steve's message today
« on: October 13, 2010, 10:57:06 am »
A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might this contain?"  The mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap. Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed this warning :  "There is a mousetrap in the house!

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me.  I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house!

The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr.. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow and said,"There is a mousetrap in the house!
The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap ?? Alone. . ..

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness,  she did not see it. It was a venomous snake whose tail was caught in the trap.

The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital. When she returned home she still had a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup. So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient:

But his wife's sickness continued. Friends and neighbors came to sit  with her around the clock.   To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

But, alas, the farmer's wife did not get well...  She died. So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them for the funeral luncheon.

And the mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

The next time you hear someone is facing a problem and you think it doesn't concern you, remember --- When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life.
We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort
to encourage one another.

Two medical students were walking along the street when they saw an old man walking with his legs spread apart. He was stiff-legged and walking slowly. One student  said to his friend: "I'm sure that poor old man has Peltry Syndrome. Those people walk just like that."
The other student says: "No, I don't think so. The old man surely has Zovitzki Syndrome. He walks slowly and his legs are apart, just as we learned in class." Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man.
They approached him and one of the students said to him, "We're medical students and couldn't help but notice the way you walk, but we couldn't agree on the syndrome you might have.  Could you tell us what it is?"
The old man said, "I'll tell you, but first you tell me what you two fine medical students think."
The first student said, "I think it's Peltry Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."
The other student said, "I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."
So they asked him, "Well, old timer, what do you have?"
The old man said, "I thought it was GAS - but I was wrong, too!"

General Scroll Saw Talk / epiphany!!
« on: August 24, 2010, 06:29:52 pm »
I suppose this is old for some of you but it just occurred to me today.  I make puzzles of different shapes and try to make them fit on the board to save as much wood as possible so I have printed out two versions, facing right and left. Since sometimes they fit better one way than the other.

DAH!!! it came to me in the night.....print them out on tracing paper.  IT WORKS. Use draft printing

In North Dakota we call an epiphany a "brain fart".

« on: August 18, 2010, 10:10:51 pm »
I am looking for a pattern for a bible holder.  Made in two parts that slips into each other so open it spreads out and holds a book. But slips together to lay flat.  I hope I made it plain enough to understand what I am thinking about.

« on: July 29, 2010, 11:10:12 pm »
My yellow 788 quit today,  In a panic I called Sheila.  She really helped I am back up and running.  If your 788 quits and thumping it doesn't help check the wires to the switch.
Evidently with my vigorous cleaning today, I bumped or blew something loose.
Thanks again Shiela.....
