I enjoyed Steve's comments today, and must say I agree wholeheartedly with him. My first scroll saw back in 2000 was a cheap entry level craftsman I bought for about $100.00. It shook and did all kinds of jumping around until I attached it to a board and put sandbags on either end of the board. I used that saw for about 5 years and kept looking at the RBI Hawk G4 at the State Fair. In 2006 I finally took the leap and spent the $1,000 for the Hawk - what a difference. But the craftsman taught me patience, and hooked me into the hobby.

IMHO, which in this case, probably doesn't count for much, I think he will enjoy scrolling. He will have support of the table to help with tremors, my only concern would be the blade changes, he may need assistance with that. I know many scrollers who are handicapped in some way, with tremors, short fingers due to accidents. I even know one scroller who has lost an arm, he has a prosthetic, uses it while scrolling, and really enjoys his hobby. He is also one of the best scrollers I know that does not do it for a living.

I bought mine from Rockler a number of years ago. It is the dead man switch type, and I love it. Use it only on my scroll saw though
