DW, I understand where you are coming from. Most companies ship USPS priority to Alaska. The point I was trying to make isone must be careful because many companies are not like you. Many companies shipping Fedex or UPS will "put a thumb" on the scale, like the old day butchers did 60 years ago. Fedex and UPS are weeding some of the blatant ones of these out by reweighing the package, and taking it back to the company to correct the weight and shipping costs. Other companies ship USPS Priority, but overcharge, like the company I spoke of yesterday.

I was going to order some wheels for a project from a US company (I live in Alaska). The weight on the package was listed as 1.1lb. Priority Mail by USPS was 17.xx. I can ship to the lower 48 priority mail all day long for less than that, a medium flat rate box goes from here to Iowa for 13.60

Welcome to you Paddy60. I am like you, bought my Hawk G4 back in the late 90's, but kind of let it sit more than I used it. Finally got back to scrolling a couple months ago and have another hobby now besides turning wood. Good group on here, they are willing to answer any question you might have or help in any way they can.

Don, sorry I cannot help you with you problem, as I own a Hawk G4. I do know there are a lot of Delta owners out there that may be able to help you.

However, I do agree with you about today's blog comments from Steve. I know a few minutes of warmup always helps me - I just do not do it often enough.

Thank you to Steve, and not to take anything away from him for his providing his plans and giving us all the information he can, because that is what gets many of us newbies going, but you had to do the choice of pattern and do the cutting. Sounds to me like you have done well on both aspects. Congratulations.
