Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Inkscape Question?
« on: May 15, 2015, 12:23:20 pm »
Question for you Inkscape users.  When you join 2 or more objects as one (I think it is called welding), can it be un-joined or un-welded?  I have been skimming thru Travis's videos but did not find this, if it is in one of his lessons maybe someone could mention which lesson.

TIA, Bob

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but at least you still have the finger.  Three years ago this July I had a accident, wasn't in the workshop, but lost the end digit of 2 fingers on my right hand and I am right handed.  Oh well life goes on. :)

Doug Smith is on his deathbed and knows the end is near.

His nurse, his wife, his daughter and two sons are with

him.

He asks for 2 witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in

place to record his last wishes, and when all is ready he

begins to speak:

My son, "Bernie, I want you to take the Mayfair

houses."

My daughter "Sybil, you take the apartments over in the

east end."

My son, "Jamie, I want you to take the offices over in

the City Centre."

"Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential

buildings on the banks of the river."

The nurse and witnesses are blown away as they did not

realize his extensive holdings, and as Doug slips away, the

nurse says, "Mrs. Smith, your husband must have been

such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this

property".

Sarah replies, "Property ? ... the old fool has a paper

route!"

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: ROS

Curious what grit paper you keep on each?

I'm Just the opposite.  I rarely use my ROS.  I have 3 1/4 sheet sanders that I keep different grits on.  I made a jig to hold one upside down so I could free hand when ever I needed.

I have a 1/4 sheet palm sander and wondering about a 5" random orbital sander.  Is there any advantage to a ROS over a 1/4 sheet palm sander?  Would a ROS be any more agressive than a 1/4 sheet palm sander using the same grit sand paper?  A 1/4 sheet palm sander has the advantage of being able to use a 1/4 sheey of sand paper or a roll of 4 1/2" of paper cut to 5 1/2" long, where a ROS needs the 5" round disc with hook/loop fasteners.  Just wondering if I would gain anything getting a ROS since I already have 2 of the 1/4 sheet palm sanders.

EIEIO, thanks for the tip, but I cannot seem to get it to work.  At least I know it can be done in Inkscape, I just need to figure what I am doing wrong.  What is the latest version of Inkscape?  I have v 0.48

Trying to lay oiut some letters to spell a name but instead of being in a straight line I want the letters in a arc.  What would be a good program and how do you do this?
