Welcome Jim.  I'm with Julie as when I started back in pre-historic era, there was very little information available and no internet.

Very nicely done.  I don't like sanding enough to try that but enjoy seeing the work of others.

I use the on/off switch from Harbor Freight on my DeWalt without a problem.  In fact, it has stopped the problems with the switch clogging up with sawdust.  I can't sit with my feet on the floor so added the switch to the side of my stand and it works with a knee bump.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Table Height

The height would depend upon your position while cutting but should be at a comfortable position.  The back can be raised from 2-4" inches again depending on comfort for you.

Those are nice.  The butterfly is unique and should be  appreciated.  I too have finished everything for Christmas and hope to get some other things done as our weather is pretty warm for this time of year.

I found that putting on masking tape before marking the cut line that it cut without glueing itself back together.

You could shorten those lines which would give you a stronger bridge but still leave the effect of the berries.

Welcome from MO.  If you have a planer, that barn wood can be made beautiful.  I have the DeWalt 788 and it is great.  Have used Deltas for years and understand the new Delta is a clone of the DeWalt.

General Scroll Saw Talk / replacement knobs
« on: December 05, 2015, 07:31:27 am »
Just watched the video about the new knobs for the saw.  I have similar knobs from Seyco that are about the same price and they do not fit over the old knob but replace it with no modification.  So far they work great.

Welcome from another Bob.  In addition to the above suggestions, you can try Scrollsaw Village for another group of great people.

I got mine from Harbor Freight and there are always 20% off coupons floating around which helps a little.  I like the on/off switch and had never used one as I have to sit with my feet off the floor so attached it to the side of the stand and can now bump it with my knee.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Maple wood trivets
« on: November 13, 2015, 08:36:19 am »
I prefer to make trivets 5/8" as that is an easier thickness to cut in hard wood and still thick enough to protect the table.  The only problem so far is that no one will use them as trivets but they wind up hung on the wall.

That sounds like a great idea.  I think your price sounds about right as those are to be given and a higher price might not fit.  If I were younger, I would jump on this idea but am trying to figure out how to stop getting orders.  I did a survivor cross for a lady and another saw it and ordered 2 then decided she needed 23 angels cut.  Showed her some patterns last night so she could choose and another lady ordered 25.  Where were all these people when I was trying to drum up business?

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Blade pots
« on: November 08, 2015, 09:47:39 am »
Since it seems there are a lot of pill bottles around this house, I have put them to use.  Cut the center out of one lid, then pill bottles screwed in from both sides.  Just the right length for blades and I put the paper copy of blade info inside.

You can use emery boards that are cut to fit the hole you are sanding.
