Opening Up Holes
« on: January 12, 2012, 02:37:28 am »
If your a bottom feeder then this will help. Ever notice how after you drill the holes, even after sanding the back, some of the holes are not open up enough. Next time take an xacto knife and place it in the hole a little ways and give it a light twirl. It will open up the hole and you won't fight to get the blade through.  ;)

I sometimes take an awl to do the same thing.

I recently was doing a lot of real small holes so I took the blade over to the grinder and made point on the top of the blade.  Helped a lot.

Sometimes the point of a pen/pencil or scribe/awl is all that is needed to break any fuzzy splinters off.

I keep an old blade in my top pocket and put it just in the hole and give it a few turns and away I go.  By the way what is an awl?  ???

I use a broken spiral blade and it makes the hole slightly bigger in all directions.  It is a pointy thing with teeth. :)

I use a awl also or a compass. I might need to find out what direction to go.
