Arched or circular Script
« on: May 15, 2011, 05:11:36 pm »
Does anyone know how to create arched or circular script and what program makes it possible?
I'm working in Windows XP Home edition. I think i've seen it done using Office but I'm not sure.
Thanks for any help.

You can do it using "word art" in ms word.

either notepad or wordpad in windows  has alot of different script types that you select in the toolbar.

I've been mucking with "word art" for at least an hour and getting more frustrated by the minute. i finally did accomplish an arch but couldn't get it to form into a circle.

Word pad only works in a common straight horizontal line. I have a slew of fonts available that;s not my problem.

I would like to be able to print around the circumference of a round plaque or any other shape I might choose.
Arrrgggghhh  >:(
Thanks anyway for the suggestions,

Steve shows how in one of his videos using corel I think.  I've looked for a link for you but can't find it right now.  I think he was showing how to do ornaments in it if that helps.

Ok, so my inner teacher got the best of me and I made up this PDF with a bunch of info on "FontWork" in Open Office.
I hope it is helpful, let me know if you have questions.

Note* The pdf had to be cut into three pieces.

OK, now for the dumb question! Where do I find FontWork? I have Microsoft office 2007, but I don't find FontWork anywhere.

fontwork is open office's version of word art. I think most of the concepts are the same, but the icons are different. I might be able to put together something for word, I'll see what I can do

Thank you Katie, I'll give that a whirl, at least your tutorial made sense. I tried to get similar info from MS word help, but it takes so long to find what your looking for and they have it named something else than expected, usually as TECH speak as well. I don't remember seeing similar symbols in WORD but if I did they didn't mean anything to me at the time.
Thanks again, fer all us ignoramouses. (m.s.s.o.p.)  ;D

Thanks MRSN, I grabbed a copy and will study it later. This will add some variety to my word art projects!
