Title: 3D name plate
Post by: Fab4 on October 03, 2012, 04:04:08 am
Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains how to make the 3D name plates
I know Steve Good has a tutorial on how to cut them (Tony Stewart keychain)
but I would like to add my own names
For most part the blank is 1.5" X 1.5" x whatever length you need
Thanks

Would something like this work?  The first couple of the these type key chains I did I laid them out with a ruler.  I did print the letters to as close the correct size as I could and them made the frame fit You can square off the top where the ring or chain goes our you could leave iit off and use a small screw eye. I gave one to a lady finished with lemon oil and clear laquer and the first thing she did was paint it red.   Go figure!

The pattern is actuall 1/4 inch short in height. I like fraction, hate decimals. type in 1.25 instead of 1.50 but you see what I mean. When she told me she painted it red, I was kinda doubtful, but it really looks good.  I went back and painted one blue and it too looks fine.  I still like the natural wood though.
