I always release the tension from the blade but do not disconnect the blade.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Seyco
« on: July 08, 2014, 06:30:03 pm »
Just wanted to give a shout out to Seyco. I had been having a problem with my EX-21. When I called and asked for Ray they said he wasn't in but Rick took the call. I explained what was going on and he wanted to hear the saw so I let him listen to it. Probably not even 30 seconds and he told me what was wrong and how to fix it. I really figured I would have to ship it off to get it fixed. I didn't even get my saw there but if I ever need a new one they will be getting my business. Sorry for rambling on but you just don't see a lot of service like that these days.

Just to let you all know I called Seyco this evening and Ray was not in but I asked the guy that answered the phone if he worked on saws as well and he said he did. I explained the problem to him and he wanted to listen to it. He knew exactly what was wrong and told me how to fix it. All is good now.

Thanks Tony. I did not purchase my saw from Seyco. I actually got mine at woodcraft but they do not service the products they sell so thinking I might give Rey a call and see if he is willing to help me or not.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Ex-21

I am having a problem with my ex-21. I noticed  couple of weeks ago that on a cold start the motor seemed to be a lot louder but after using it for a couple of cuts it would quiet back down now it seems to be getting worse. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if maybe the motor is going bad already. Had the saw since October and love the saw but would like to find out what is going on with it.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Applying Patterns

Like a lot of scrollers out there been doing it for 15 years or so. I have learned a lot from this site in the past year. I personally have never used the painters tape. I just use spray adhesive and usually don't have any trouble with getting it to peel off after I am done cutting. If I do then I use the mineral spirits and it comes right off.

Pattern Requests. / Re: Looking for a special pattern.

Kind of off the topic but I can relate to the diabetic issue as my father had it. I do a bicycle ride every year for the American Diabetes Association with a friend of mine that was diagnosed with it when he was 8 years old. The ride is the 21st in Indianapolis and I have been to busy with work and scrolling that I haven't rode hardly any this year so could be fun trying to finish it LOL. Hope someone can find a pattern for you.

I used to use the Olson blades and had good luck with them and then I tried the FD blades from Mike. The FD blades hold up a lot better in my opinion and do very good work for what I do.

I am with you Becky. Here in Indiana it seemed to get cold in November and has not warmed up much at all. I put a small electric heater in my garage but as cold as it has been this year it hasn't done the trick. I was able to get all my Christmas things done but since then only done a couple of small projects. My wife said I could move my saw in the spare bedroom but don't have a lot of orders right now but I want to try to get some stuff made up ahead this year. Dan
