I got the DVD for Scoll Saw Workshop volume 1 and 2 (up to issue 24)

Since I am new to scrolling these are a nice addition to my library.  It is a little harder to read the articles but it is easy to print the patterns off the DVD.

PS: I also got the pen drilling chuck from PSI.  I had to use last night to check it out and it makes it real easy on your lathe to drill pen blanks even if the blank is not square.  I

If that isn't it, I believe the designer you're looking for is Kevin Daly.  I have no clue how to contact him though.

Kevin Daly is at
http://www.scrollsawpatternsonline.com/index.htm

But I don't see The Ascension of the Lord there but there are other great patterns.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

I did not stack cut as I did the insides first so I would have more to hold on to. Doing it again I might figure out a way to do the insides and then have some line up holes to put a few toghether for the outside cut.

Painting is not normally not my thing, but it was not all that bad as I sprayed on the white,  then over painted the green.  Then I use gold glitter blast and sealed with a spray. It took as long to paint as it did to cut.

The big reason for painting was the LOML wanted it to match the rest of the table and she is right as the staight BB was pretty dull.

Thanks again and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Don

PS:  Next year I plan on personalized tent cards that I already have an idea for and I will be able to stack cut.

Wanted to have place cards for Christmas dinner as we are expecting 19.

Cut and painted individual ornaments for each plus one generic.

Thanks to Steve for the patterns.

Hi Danny

Love the bank but woodworkswest.com doesn't seem to exist.  I have tried all sorts of other variations but with no luck.

Do you have an alternate link?

Thanks

Don

Love these ornaments.

What kind of wood did you cut these from and then did you stain?

I cut some in 1/4 BB and the boss did not like so I am in the process of painting.

These look great and I am sure if mine looked like yours I would not be painting.

I am farily new to scrolling and the best way is to see it done. I have followed Steve videos and lesson series have learned a ton.

Another interesting lesson series is Shelia Landry on Lumberjocks.

I have found the one on youtube

and another post  a link to woodwestworkswest.com but can not find there.

This video shows a completed Danny's Dinosaur Bank in ACTION!. I made the bank myself from plans available from woodworkswest.com

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks

It was posted on a Canadian Woodworking site that Langevin & Forest  has no tax sale on now.
http://www.editionsvertes.com/LangevinForest/circulaireNoel/

I think they are also giving free shipping on online orders.

The EX - 21 is $759.  I doesn't say K model.  ie footpetal and stand included.  Good price in Canada if K model.

I have footpetal and love it.  I know others hate it but I would not do without it.

Bonjour.

I am from Ontario and bonjour is about the extent of my French.

I have an EX-21 and love it.  Watch the General flyer for sales and then see what you can do.  I bought mine at the time of a woodshow in Woodstock from Federated tools in London Ont for 10% off the flyer price and they included delivery.  Total before tax $735cdn.  My friend just made the same deal as they recently offerred 20% off on a one day deal but shipping was extra.

About your lessons.  Are these being done by a club, an individual or a company like Lee Valley and if so is there a charge? Our woodworking club is thinking about doing lessons for the general public and are going to do for minimal or free and just looking for ideas of costs.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Need Help to select a new planer
« on: November 19, 2011, 08:44:31 am »
I have a 13" Delta and the dust and chips used to to drive me nuts.

I got a cheap 1hp dust collector for just around $100.(Simmilar to the Grizzly 1hp)  Put a drum (free) in between with a cyclone lid Lee Valley ($50) and live has been good. Wouldn't run my planer without it.

It is real easy to dump the drum and practically nothing hits the dust collector.

It made it so that the little chips didn't drop back on the board and cause little dimples.

Congrats.

You say you cutting initials only??  2 letters only ie DM for Don McFarland or D McFarland

I like the idea for my grandkids teachers.  I already cut name plates and something else would like this would work great.

Really like these name plates.

How do you apply the poly?

I just made a couple out of cherry and now need to finish?

Over at Scroll Saw village they have a video tutorial on using Gimp for porttraits.

http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=06db0e523b0b9951d9da338078278d24

I have watched the GIMP tutorial on making portraits and tried my own and I worked out okay if you start with a reasonable picture.

There also a tutorial at.
