i was looking at some of steve's plans and seen a perfect font and i'm curious if anyone knows the name of it?
the letters are big and fat and perfect for scrolling.

its a word art pattern 'Be Creative'

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: small problem with my EX-21
« on: June 29, 2012, 07:01:54 pm »
mine was doing the same thing, keefie has the solution for 90% of the saws

i ended up pulling off the lower blade chuck to take a look at it and i can see why the blades kept getting pushed out, previous owner(s) had to be cranking down really hard on the knob as the walls of the block were pushed apart so far that only the very ends of the flat parts of the knob and the set screw would touch on the blade and when it got tightened it would just push the blade out and bend it and now with the new lower clamp installed it works great!

i ordered the parts from Ray on a Monday and he had them in my hand on Thursday so once again great service from Seyco.

i have to disagree with dgman on sanding the end of the knob.
i did that to mine and after several times it developed a convex shape (cone)
so there is less surface area to grip. its best to order a new one and just
replace it. i know seyco has repair kits (the little spinner end) but they are
about as expensive as the whole knob.

General Scroll Saw Talk / M&M Blade Holders
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:29:58 am »
i just got the email this morning that Steve posted about Jim Leasors m&m tube blade holders.

i like the colors and the tubes are cool and the carousel holder is sweet but even tho the tubes
come with candy they sure would add up after getting several. their is almost forty bucks in tubes
and the bad part is the lid hinge wont last real long as the plastic 'fold' will eventually break and
will no longer be attached to the tube so you will just have to pop it off and put it back on.

the good thing about them is of course the candy you will get (maybe sell it to offset the price of
the tubes?) and the colors are way cool looking but the best part is the size, they would have to
hold at least a hundred blades or more in each one?

it will definitely be interesting to see how many people get them and build the carousel and i hope
you all post back here and show off your tubes!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Excalibur saw stand leveling feet problem
« on: January 18, 2012, 01:34:23 am »
How about a bolt and a couple of nuts.  A little troublesome to adjust but work well.
that wouldnt cause any vibration would it.  :o

Adjustable feet are supplied with the machine
if they came with the machine i wouldnt be needing any but since i bought it used and it doesnt
have any, i thought i would make a post and hopefully get the help i originally asked for.

Your hardwaer store should have them they dont cost that much
thanks joey, if all else fails here i will see what they have.

i put this on the back burner for a while but im still looking for a cheap
count up timer (time clock) like the one steve uses. i was hoping he
would post what he uses or if someone else knows exactly or has one
that works.
i dont want an electronic timer, they just countdown from like 99 minutes.

i want a timer that counts up, can be stopped and started again to continue
adding minutes.
thanks

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Ex21 Poll
« on: January 14, 2012, 11:16:34 pm »
when i first got into woodworking i found an 18" Hegner on CL for $75 but i didnt like the vibration i got from
that saw so i sold it and i bought my next saw which was a new DW788 and i loved that saw except for the
vibration and it was before i found all the great sites with the info on how to fix the 788 problems so i sold it
and found an RBI Hawk 214 way cheap and i liked that saw a lot except for having to reach way back all the
time to flip the tension lever to start the blade changing operation which sucked so i sold that and found a
used EX-21 for a very good price and except for a few little problems like blade changing i have been really
happy ever since and of course you cant find better customer service from Ray @ Seyco anywhere!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: clocks
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:51:27 pm »
i wish the clock makers would include a back plate/plug that snaps in like
the insert does and just covers the back hole

also the inserts i have use the little N battery and its about two bucks which
is crap but i suppose a AAA wont fit in the real small inserts?
