General Scroll Saw Talk / Double Sided Tape
« on: October 06, 2012, 02:35:31 pm »
Question guys? I just used up my last piece of double sided tape.I went out to get another roll and now I am having a hard time getting it.The roll I had was by a company named Manco Inc.I checked out staples and a few hardware stores.I tried home depot and they had a double sided tape for back splashes. It works ok, but when pulling it off it leaves to much residue for me.Does anybody have any idea where I can get another roll?Any help will be great....Dave

I have a question about my hegner.I have had my saw for years but up until just recently I never had to use a blade like a # 1,# 2.Now I am trying portraits and have to use a smaller blade. My problem is I put the blade in the bottom holder, I used the 0.5mm clamp. Now when I go to thread it in the top I can't get the clamp to close on the blade.Maybe I'm just weird or my eyes are going.I have no problem with say a #5 or # 7.What am I doing wrong, it drove me crazy yesterday so I switched to a # 5 and had no problem.Just the blades breaking because of the tight turns.Could it be the quick clamp, just thought of that?Well any help will be great.....Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / After Portrait
« on: March 18, 2012, 10:21:13 pm »
Ok after the portrait is done.If using baltic birch plywood, what do I?Stain it dip it?Then comes the backer right?I read  some people attach cardboard to it or felt or a painted backerboard. What seems to work best.If I used 1/4 and would like to frame it would I still attach a backerboard and would it fit in a frame?I know alot of questions, but any help will still be greatly appreciated...Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Portrait help needed
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:15:28 pm »
Hey guys, well tonight I made an attempt at a portrait.By this writing you can probably tell it didn't work out so well.Well I'll start and you guys can tell me where I went wrong.I used spray glue to attach the pattern to the board. Then I taped 3  1/8 pieces together.Drilled a few starter holes and placed a # 2 blade into the saw.So when I started cutting, the lines kind of dissappeared. It seems the sawdust stuck to the tape and when the lines became narrow, I couldn't see them.Any help anyone can give will be great.I don't like making firewood. Thanks in advance Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Toggle Bolt Help
« on: February 22, 2012, 09:42:40 pm »
Hey All, I have a question that maybe someone can answer for me? Sorry its not a scrollsaw question. I am putting up shelves that hang from a main support bar and then the pieces come down that would support the shelves. I am putting about 200 baseballs on them. I think it comes out to about 125 pounds. In the main support I used 7 1/4 inch toggles and I have 5 3/16 cabinet screws in the beams. At home depot they said the cabinet screws were good up to 250 pounds.Do you think I should be all right.Any help will be great....
