General Scroll Saw Talk / Scrolling In Baement
« on: October 20, 2014, 05:24:05 pm »
Hey Guys, Question? I had enough of freezing my hands out in my cold garage in the winter or not scrolling at all. I have room in my basement for my saw. The problem being. My hot water heater and my furnace are not to far away. Any ideas of how to get rid of the dust before it gets to them? Any ideas will help. Tired of freezing. I think I asked the same question a long time ago and never did it. Must have erased the replies. Thanks in advance.... Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Hegner Day
« on: July 01, 2014, 11:53:24 pm »
Wednesday I am going to Advanced Machinery to pick out my new Hegner and put my old one out to pasture. I bought it in 1998 after using a pin blade craftsman. We had many good years together, it was hard cleaning it up for the last time. Now on the bright side. I have another one to break in and hopefully use as long as my last one. Great saws.....

Hey Guys, quick question. I have been trying to find a program to make like mongram letters. The kind that you would see with the persons last name initial and then the two first intials by it side. Example    dKj in sort of script. I know its hard to understand but I'm trying. Well any way. If you have any idea what I'm talking about, your help would be great. Thanks in advance....Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Basement Scrolling
« on: December 29, 2013, 03:24:59 pm »
Hey Guys, Some input please. I tried working in the garage yesterday and was just to cold. I plan on heating my garage next year. In the mean time what do you think about scrolling in the basement. I really hate to go 3 months without doing anything. Is the basement OK? I have to first let you know that the only room I would be able to use has the furnace and hot water heater in there. So would dust mess them up and if not what could I do to prevent it. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Hegner Decision And Opinion
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:25:16 am »
Hey Guys I have a little problem. After 15 years my Hegner scroll saw is going. I started on it and never used anything else but this one. I'm tossed, should I buy another Hegner or one of the other brands? Is it worth paying almost double the cost of another scroll saw? I don't know anyone else around that I could try their saw. I have been to craft fairs and saw them using other brands. So I need your opinion on other brands I should look and the pros and cons. Like I said I never used anything else but the Hegner. So things like blade changes are natural to me. Any input anyone wants to give would be great. Thanks in advance for the help and the opinions.    Dave

General Scroll Saw Talk / Basement Help Sawing
« on: February 18, 2013, 06:29:54 pm »
Hey guys, question for you.I live in New Jersey and we don't usually have warm winters. Dec,Jan, Feb and some of March can be cold. My shop is in my garage and not heated. So that means no sawing in the winter. I want to make a small room almost like a large closet in my basement so that I could saw in the winter months in heat. Ahh heat. I would probably be about 15 feet from an outside wall. Heres my question. What kind of exhaust system would I use? I don't want the sawdust thru the rest of my house. The room I will make will be as air tight as I could make it. Would I need something to go outside or do they make something for inside the room? As always any help you can give me will be appreciated.......Dave
