General Scroll Saw Talk / magazine
« on: March 03, 2014, 07:21:10 am »
Just wondering if anyone from Canada has received the March issue of Creative Woodworks & Crafts yet?  If so, when and did the Feb. issue come on time?

The reason I ask is my Feb. issue didn't come so I contacted them - they would send out another and it would be 3-4 weeks delivery (4 weeks later I got it).  Now the March issue is out and I haven't got mine yet.  I have a friend who is having the same problem.  So, just wondering if its maybe just our area (NB) or if it's a problem going to all of Canada.  I've been subscribing to this mag. for 5 years and never had a problem before.  It's a little frustrating, they have my money and I have to chase for the issues.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Just got back...
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:18:47 pm »
Hi all.  A little off topic but I just wanted to say that we just got back from vacation to Tennessee and we had a great time.  For the Nascar fans we went to the Bristol race....it was our first live race.  Hubby was in heaven!  What I really wanted to let you know is that we went to Sloans Workshop....since they don't ship to Canada, Canada went to them. The store is located on a back country road and isn't that big but we were there quite a while....the owners are sooo friendly.  Well worth the drive and certainly glad I went.  :)

General Scroll Saw Talk / EX 21 - broken
« on: June 29, 2012, 01:59:42 pm »
Yesterday I took the day off work so I could spend a full day scrolling and get lots done...everything was ready to go, patterns attached, holes drilled, things are going to happen today....did they ever.

At 7:20am I'm in the garage and what should have taken 10 min to cut (a simple ornament) was into 1/2 hr. (blades dulled fast, slipping, whatever it happened).  Moved on to other projects, some went good some not.  I sure wasn't getting as much done as I had hoped and at one point thought ' I should have went to work' - NOT!  Anyhow, put the last blade in and no tension - took off the cover of the arms and sure enough - mechanism broke.  Well nothing I can do right now, I'll call the dealer later as I have to keep cutting.  Hauled out ol' yeller and that sure didn't go good (if the blade didn't slip from the top it slipped from the bottom which was a new one to me), so after cutting 2 ornaments I called it a day - did my finish sanding and closed shop frustrated in that I didn't get as much done as I had hoped and also that my saw quit.  But at the same time I did get things done that I wouldn't have otherwise.

I remember reading in Sheila Landry's blog that she had had a saw problem and when I found the post sure enough same thing. As I was telling my husband what happened I got thinking maybe there was signs that things weren't right only didn't realize it at the time.  The tension needed to be adjusted a lot (which isn't normal), the white lever flipped open once and that has never happened before.  When that happened I just thought strange, put it back and kept going.

I sure am glad that Sheila posted about her "breakdown" as it gave me some info when I called the dealer.  He wanted to know how I knew as much as I did, thought I had already talked to General!  Thanks Sheila... :)

Now I wait to hear what they're going to do....

General Scroll Saw Talk / Has anyone ever....
« on: June 22, 2012, 07:14:59 am »
bought anything from 'Klockit' or 'Wildwood Designs'?  I'm looking at the clocks, pen sets, music boxes....just wondering what the quality is like, service or anything else you can tell me about them.  From Canada I find it's a hassle to return anything so I want to get some feedback first.

Thanks all.

General Scroll Saw Talk / EX21 scratched table update
« on: May 12, 2012, 07:41:11 pm »
A couple months ago we talked about the scratches on the EX21 table.  I had said mine was not only scratched but black metal showing thru and I had called the dealer.  Finally got an answer and they have replaced the table!  The rep had never seen anything like it and had no answers so a new one I got.  whoo hoo!! :)

General Scroll Saw Talk / what am I doing wrong?
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:16:19 pm »
Bit of a dumb question but I've noticed when I make a post that in the upper right corner it says, Quote, Modify, Remove.  When others make a post all that is there is Quote.  What am I doing wrong?

General Scroll Saw Talk / EX21 bent blade end
« on: February 25, 2012, 06:16:08 pm »
When I was using my Dewalt I never had a problem with a bent blade end....had slippage and that was solved by sanding the end.  Now I have an EX21 and having problems with bent blade ends.  Today, was a real bad day for blades....not only were they bending but also breaking....a little piece at a time.  You can see the thumbscrew catching the blade and bringing it over to secure.  It looks like it's bending the blade but when tension is applied it straightens out....or so you think....take the blade out and it's bent.  I've tried not putting so much blade in and I've tried more blade but it doesn't matter...still bending.  And as I said today the tips kept breaking off.  I've used olsen and FD and one is no better than another.  When I first got my saw in November /11 there wasn't any problems, this started I'd say within the last month or so.

Is anyone else having this problem with their EX and what's the solution?  I'm getting a little frustrated and the Dewalt almost came back out!

Appreciate any and all feedback.
